What Students Say?
Likes
- I liked the supportive learning environment at my university.
Dislikes
- One of the things I disliked was the curriculum of the courses, it was pretty basic and easy, did not really add a lot of value to my knowledge.
I chose to come to Canada primarily because of the fact that my family was moving here. I chose to study at York University due to its Goodwill and name in the market. My overall experience was a little below my expectations as the course did not really add to my current knowledge base.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is fairly easy and basic. We got to work on two simulations which gave us an idea about how things happen in a business on a day-to-day basis, what challenges do businesses face.
Exams
- My score IELTS 8 band. (9, 8.5 , 7.5, 7.5). School of Continuing studies requirements - IELTS score 6.5 and above.
- CBSE (10th) - 9.6 CGPA, CBSE (12th) - 94%, University of Delhi - (B.com Honors) 8 GPA
- Requirements: I had to submit a video SoP and my resume. There were no interviews as such. The video resume included me explaining my background and how is it related to the course that I am applying for and why am I applying for the particular course and university.
Placement
School of Continuing Studies does not provide any placement or research opportunities.
Faculty
There were typically 25-30 students in one batch. The best faculties in my program (Business administration) would be Ms. Joanna Drakakis who taught us business fundamentals and Human Resource Management. She was really supportive and gave us insights related to various real life topics.
Campus Life
School of Continuing Studies has one allocated building in the York University Keele Campus. It is a big building with nice infrastructure and big class rooms with projectors. The students of School of Continuing Studies also have the access to the Library of York University and the Tait McKenzie Centre which has all the recreational activities like gym, swimming pool etc.
Hostel
I have been staying in a private room in Mississauga, paying 800 CAD/month. A student can easily get a shared accomodation for about 400-600 CAD/month.
