Torrens University Australia admissions follow an access-oriented model that opens four main intakes a year, accepts most applicants who meet the published Year 12 or Bachelor’s floor, and charges no application fee for direct applicants. Indian applicants need Class XII (around 60%) for undergraduate entry and a recognised Bachelor’s degree for postgraduate entry, plus an English score at or above the band published for that course level.
- Next live deadline: finalise enrolment by 13 September 2026 for the primary Main Intake 3 starting 14 September 2026.
- Base tuition: from AUD 27,600 (around ₹18.01 Lakhs) per year for UG and PG programs; application fee is nil for direct applications (saves around ₹0).
- Eligibility floor: UG needs Class XII at ~60% plus IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5); PG needs a Bachelor’s with IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0).
- Acceptance rate: estimated at 84 to 85%, university does not publish an official institutional figure.
Popular Indian-applicant choices include the MBA, Bachelor of Business, and Bachelor of Information Technology, all of which are offered across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and online. Indian student reviews on the Torrens University Australia page describe a teaching-led model with smaller cohorts and industry-linked assessments.

Torrens University Australia Application Deadlines for Indian Students
Torrens runs four main intakes a year plus two accelerated intakes; international applications remain open year-round, but enrolment must be finalised one calendar day before each study period begins, per the official key dates page. The table below lists every upcoming intake from today, the application close date for Indian students, and the census date that locks tuition liability.
Torrens University Australia’s primary intake for Indian students is Main Intake 3 (September) — most programs open here for September commencement.
| Intake | Level | Study Period Start | Application Finalised By | Census Date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main Intake 2, 2026 | UG and PG | 01 June 2026 (Closed) | 31 May 2026 (passed) | 19 June 2026 (passed) |

Special date schedules apply for Bachelor of Nursing, Hotel Management (Blue Mountains), and English-pathway courses. Indian applicants targeting Main Intake 3 (September 2026) should submit at least 6 to 8 weeks before the close date to leave time for offer, Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), and the Australia subclass 500 visa decision.
Planning note: Torrens charges no application fee, so apply for two intakes in parallel (for example September 2026 and February 2027) to keep a backup if visa timing slips.
Torrens University Australia Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students
Torrens accepts Indian secondary and tertiary qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalence published on its general admissions criteria page. Academic floors are level-based; English floors vary by course family. Class XII, Bachelor’s transcripts, and English score reports are the academic gates here; paperwork like SOP and LORs is covered in the Documents section.
Academic eligibility by level:
- UG general entry: Class XII completed with around 60% (CBSE, ICSE, or recognised state board) or an Australian Year 12 equivalent.
- UG mature-age pathway: age 21+, Year 10 or above, plus 3 years of full-time relevant work experience.
- PG taught entry: recognised Bachelor’s degree (3 or 4 year) from a UGC-recognised Indian university.
- PG advanced standing: AQF Diploma or Advanced Diploma equivalents may attract block credit; submit transcripts early as the cutoff is week 2 of the trimester.
- PhD entry: Bachelor’s with First or Upper Second Class Honours, or equivalent; research proposal accepted by a Torrens supervisory panel.

Torrens University Australia English Waiver Notes for Indian Applicants
Torrens does not publish a blanket Medium of Instruction (MOI) waiver for Indian applicants. The admissions criteria do accept "assessable qualifications in English" from listed countries, plus completion of AQF Certificate IV or above in English, but Indian Class XII in English alone is not listed as a stand-alone exemption. Plan to submit an IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic score with your application.
If you fall short, the Torrens University Language Centre (TULC) English for Academic Purposes pathway is an internal route to direct entry without retaking IELTS.
Torrens University Australia PG Programs and Fees
Torrens runs Master’s degrees across Business, IT, Design, Health, Hospitality, and Education. Annual base tuition for most international PG programs sits between AUD 28,000 and AUD 35,000 (around ₹18.28 Lakhs to ₹22.84 Lakhs); some Health and Hotel Management specialisations run higher. For the full course-wise fees breakdown see the programs and fees listing on Collegedunia.

Torrens University Australia UG Programs and Fees
Undergraduate base tuition for international students at Torrens University Australia starts at AUD 27,600 (around ₹18.01 Lakhs) per year for IT and Business and rises to around AUD 30,360 (around ₹19.82 Lakhs) for Design. Nursing and select Hotel Management programs sit at the upper end of the institutional range. Standard duration is 3 years full-time with a 2-year accelerated option.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Business | 3 years (2 years accelerated) | Class XII at ~60% | IELTS 6.0 |
| Bachelor of Information Technology | 3 years | Class XII at ~60% with Maths preferred | IELTS 6.0 |

Torrens dropped the ATAR as its primary entry indicator, so Indian Class XII percentages are converted directly using AQF mapping. Diplomas are available as pathway entry for applicants short of the Class XII benchmark.
Insider note: Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of IT both list 13 July 2026 (Accelerated), 14 September 2026, and 15 February 2027 as upcoming start dates, so an Indian Class XII school-leaver passing out in mid-2026 can target the September 2026 main intake without a gap year.
Torrens University Australia MBA Admission for Indian Students
The Torrens MBA (CRICOS 095353M) is a 1.5-year (or 1-year accelerated) program with rolling intakes in February, July, September, and November. Base tuition is around AUD 30,360 (around ₹19.82 Lakhs) per year. The program is offered at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and fully online.
Torrens University Australia MBA Entry Requirements
Entry requires a recognised Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. No GMAT or GRE is required. The English minimum is the Business Administration-specific floor: IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 60 (min. 18 writing), or PTE 50 (min. 42 each). Work experience is not mandatory for the standard MBA, but applicants with 2+ years of relevant work get clearer block-credit decisions.
Torrens University Australia MBA Intake Schedule and Fees
Upcoming MBA starts and finalisation deadlines for Indian students:
- 13 July 2026 (Accelerated): finalise by 12 July 2026.
- 14 September 2026 (Main): finalise by 13 September 2026.
- 02 November 2026 (Main): finalise by 01 November 2026.
- 15 February 2027 (Main): finalise by 14 February 2027.
An interview is not a standard part of the MBA decision; the admissions committee relies on the application, transcripts, and English evidence. The MBA cost-of-attendance breakdown (tuition by trimester, scholarships, OSHC) sits on the linked program page.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Torrens MBA program page before applying.
Torrens University Australia PhD Admission for Indian Students
The Doctor of Philosophy is a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) offered across Business, Design, Health, and Education. Standard duration is 3 to 4 years full-time. Funding includes partial Torrens HDR scholarships discussed at application; full funding for Indian students at Torrens is limited and competitive — explore the central funding options for Indian students via current scholar reviews before committing.
Torrens University Australia PhD Entry Criteria
Entry requires a Bachelor’s degree with First or Upper Second Class Honours from a recognised university, or equivalent prior research or work output. A research proposal must be developed in consultation with a Torrens supervisor and accepted by the supervisory panel before a formal offer is issued. The HDR English floor is IELTS 7.0 with no skills band below 6.5, or equivalent TOEFL, PTE, or CAE.
Torrens University Australia PhD Application Process
The PhD application is a two-stage flow:
- Submit an expression of interest with research topic, draft proposal, CV, and transcripts to HDR@torrens.edu.au.
- On supervisor agreement, submit the formal application through the Torrens online portal with the accepted proposal attached.
Decisions involve the supervisory panel and Research Office; expect 6 to 10 weeks from formal submission to a written offer.
Note: Stipend amounts, scholarship rounds, and supervisor capacity change each academic year. Confirm current PhD funding on the official Torrens HDR page before applying.
Torrens University Australia Application Process for Indian Students
Indian applicants apply either directly through Torrens or through an authorised education agent. The four-stage process from research to offer is documented on the official international applicants page.
- Shortlist your course across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, or online; confirm campus availability for your chosen program.
- Check the published academic and English minimums against your transcripts and IELTS, PTE, or TOEFL score.
- Submit on the direct application portal at apply.torrens.edu.au with no application fee charged. Agent applications use the Torrens StudyLink portal.
- Upload certified documents (passport, transcripts, English score, photo, SOP) and select your preferred OSHC provider.
- Receive an acknowledgement within one business day; admissions decisions follow once all documents are verified.
- Accept the conditional offer, pay the first study period tuition, and receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) — the trigger for your visa application.
Torrens University Australia Admission Decisions and Offer Timing
Most coursework decisions arrive within 2 to 4 weeks of complete submission. Conditional offers typically list pending items (final transcript, English re-test, financial proof). Accept the offer in the portal, pay the first study period tuition (usually 4 to 5 subjects), and Torrens issues the CoE within a few business days. Defer to the next intake using the Leave of Absence form if visa timing slips.
Insider note: Pay the application tuition deposit through a no-markup remittance service rather than your card; AUD remittance via INR card swipes adds 3 to 4% on a ~₹5 Lakh first-trimester payment.
Torrens University Australia Documents Required
The Torrens portal accepts scanned and certified copies for the initial decision; originals or notarised copies are reviewed before CoE issue. Prepare the paperwork list below before you open the application, not after — verification adds 5 to 10 working days if any document needs re-issue.
- Valid passport bio-page (validity at least 6 months past intended visa expiry).
- Class XII certificate and individual subject marksheet for UG applicants.
- Bachelor’s degree certificate, consolidated marksheet, and semester transcripts for PG applicants.
- English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, CAE, or OET) issued within 24 months.
- Statement of Purpose explaining program choice, career goals, and Australia rationale.
- Curriculum Vitae listing education, work experience, and any publications.
- One to two Letters of Recommendation (academic or professional) for PG and PhD.
- Work experience letters for MBA, Master of Project Management, and Master of Education applicants.
- Portfolio of design work for Bachelor and Master of Design applicants.
- Financial declaration or sponsor letter for the visa-stage financial capacity check.
- Passport-size photograph in Australian visa specifications.
Indian applicants from CBSE, ICSE, and most state boards should ensure marksheets carry the school principal’s signature and seal; unauthenticated state board sheets are a common Torrens admissions hold.
Torrens University Australia Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
Torrens University Australia does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates put the figure at around 84 to 85%, based on competitive-intake patterns and Torrens’ stated mission to "make higher education accessible to a wider audience." The university admits most applicants who meet its stated academic and English minimums — this is an access-oriented model, not a selective one.
What Drives Torrens University Australia Admission Decisions
Decisions weight three factors in order: meeting the published academic floor for your course family, meeting the published English minimum for that level, and producing the financial capacity evidence for the CoE-to-visa handoff. Programs like Nursing (IELTS 7.0) and Counselling (interview) sit above the institutional average on rigour and run lower effective admission rates.
How Torrens University Australia Compares to Indian Peer Choices
Compared to G8 universities, the Torrens floor is markedly lower; compared to private and pathway-oriented Australian universities, Torrens sits in a similar admit-rate band. A side-by-side comparison with Flinders University shows broadly similar UG English floors but differing fee bands and campus footprints.
Reality check: A high admit rate does not mean automatic offer — incomplete English scores, unsealed marksheets, and missing financial proof are the three rejection reasons that surface most often for Indian Torrens applicants.
Australia Student Visa for Torrens University Australia Applicants
Indian students study at Torrens University Australia on the Subclass 500 (Student) visa, issued by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The visa application opens once you receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from Torrens and runs in parallel with arranging Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), which is compulsory for the full visa duration.
The current base application charge is AUD 2,000 (around ₹1.31 Lakhs) for the primary applicant. You must show evidence of funds covering the first year’s tuition, OSHC, and approximately AUD 29,710 (around ₹19.39 Lakhs) in living costs as the current annual financial capacity benchmark for the student visa. A Genuine Student (GS) statement replaces the older Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement and asks for a structured explanation of why you chose Torrens and your specific course.
Most decisions arrive within 4 to 8 weeks for Indian applicants. International students may work up to 48 hours per fortnight during teaching periods under current Australian post-2024 rules.
2026 update: The Australian government’s annual student visa charge increase took effect on 01 July 2025, raising the base fee to AUD 2,000. Confirm the prevailing rate on the Home Affairs portal before paying, since further indexation may apply mid-2026.
Tips for Torrens University Australia Admissions
The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Torrens University Australia, where rolling intakes and a zero-fee application change the playbook compared to traditional Group of Eight universities.
- Apply 6 to 8 weeks ahead of an intake to leave runway for offer, CoE, and the AUD 2,000 (around ₹1.31 Lakhs) visa decision.
- Stack two intakes in parallel — for example September 2026 and February 2027 — since Torrens charges no application fee and lets you defer.
- Use direct application at apply.torrens.edu.au if your offer is clean; agents add value only for visa filing and OSHC negotiation.
- Negotiate the international scholarship of up to 25 to 30% off tuition during application, not after; it is not auto-applied.
- Pick your campus on cost of living, not brand — Adelaide and Brisbane run roughly 15 to 20% cheaper than Sydney for shared accommodation.
- Choose accelerated mode if you want to finish a Master’s in 1 year and save around AUD 15,000 (around ₹9.79 Lakhs) in living costs.
- Use the TULC English pathway if your IELTS is short by 0.5 — it is a recognised internal entry route without retaking the test.
Torrens University Australia Admissions Checklist
The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete in the 10 weeks before a Torrens intake start. Timeline is sequential — slipping the early steps cascades to visa risk.
- 10 weeks out: request sealed transcripts and Class XII marksheet attestation from your school or university.
- 9 weeks out: book IELTS, PTE, or TOEFL iBT (in-person test only; Torrens does not accept the at-home versions).
- 7 weeks out: submit the Torrens application on the direct portal with all documents uploaded.
- 5 weeks out: accept the conditional offer, pay the first study period tuition, and receive the CoE.
- 4 weeks out: lodge the Subclass 500 visa application; pay AUD 2,000 (around ₹1.31 Lakhs) visa charge with OSHC active.
- 2 weeks out: book Australia-bound flights and confirm short-term accommodation for the first 4 weeks on campus.
- Arrival week: attend Torrens orientation (held one week before intake start), open an Australian bank account, and apply for a Tax File Number.
Torrens University Australia is an access-oriented option for Indian students who want a fast, fee-free application route, rolling intakes, and AQF-recognised degrees. Pick the September 2026 intake if you are ready now, or use the no-fee policy to apply for September and February 2027 in parallel.

- The course structure is very organized and help us to gain soft and technical skills for us to succeed in industry.
Dislikes
- Probably, they only focus those students who are active, but they need to do some effort in bringing higher participation of students in career growth. Also, their grading is only based on assessments, I think it will be better if there was examination as well.

Overview
Torrens is one of the most affordable universities in Australia. Their education is assignments and exams based. My course is also accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) which would help me in getting my skill assessment after completing this course. Their online education is very flexible and they have campuses in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide. Any student from these campuses can join a class from any other campus as per their availability. Moreover, work and studies can be managed efficiently.
Scholarship
25% on the overall fees. This scholarship was offered by my college itself.
Overview
It is a partner university with the one back in Malaysia so it was convenient to do a twinning program here. Also, this university is Australia's leading hotel school for hospitality education hence it makes sense for me to choose this university.
