Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • Sydney and Melbourne are very crowded and Brisbane is an upcoming city with the 2032 Olympics happening there. Also got the most scholarship at the University of Queensland. I had some friends living in Brisbane so finding an accommodation was not that hard.

Tips to enhance your application

  • Highlight achievements, skills, and goals. Show passion, uniqueness, and fit for the program.
  • Use clear, compelling language with strong examples. Keep it structured, concise, and error-free. Extracurricular matters a lot.

Admission Experience

  • The USA and Europe seem very saturated now and Australia is much safer and living conditions are better. Academic reputation and rankings: the top 40 universities in the world.
  • Specific courses or programs offered: A really diverse range of programs and courses is offered, with many options to choose from. Location: A small but really beautiful city with skyscrapers as well as suburbs and near the gold coast. Career opportunities—With the Olympics happening, many career opportunities have opened up.
  • My overall experience with academics, extracurricular activities, student life, campus, etc. is that assignments are pretty hard, but overall student life is really good.

Class Schedule

8

  • 4-5 lectures and 4-5 contact classes in a week. We can choose our timetable; I have classes on evenings
  • The average strength of a class is 200+ in lectures and 20-40 are in my contact.Very few Indians are there in the course, maybe 2 or 3. Apart from the regular classes, 3-4 hours per day go on a daily basis into assignments and self-study at home.

Faculty

9

  • Faculty members are approachable and supportive, offering personalised guidance due to a favourable faculty-to-student ratio. Some professors stand out for their engaging teaching and mentorship.
  • Many also assist in job placements through references and industry connections, helping students secure part-time or full-time roles. Their support enhances both learning and career prospects.

Campus Life

10

  • Around 7 campuses my college has, but St. Lucia is the main one.
  • Available facilities: library, sports, and medical—around 6 libraries in our main campus and way too many sports facilities, as well as a good and easily accessible medical facility.
  • All festivals of all cultures are celebrated and almost every day something is happening on campus. Best, in my opinion, is market day, where all clubs set up their display and show what happens in the clubs

Part Time Jobs

  • Around 31 dollars per hour is what people get paid for the part-time job.  You can apply on Indeed or Seek and then get an interview call. Referrals also work as well as handing a resume to a manager directly. Although I've seen these methods rarely successful.
  • 200 overall TA/RA/DA roles. Other on-campus jobs: Many on-campus jobs are available and are paid according to Australian wage rules.. 24 hours of work allowed per week.

Placement

7

  • Most of my batch went back to their home countries but people who stay get placed within 6 months. 60k-80k  is the average salary range for most students but in engineering it's 100k. Applying online on company websites, students typically find jobs.
  • 60k and 250k are the highest and lowest salaries usually offered.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • Search methods: Online platforms, agents—online platforms mostly.
  • Challenges faced: A friend in Brisbane arranged accommodation prior to my arrival so it was easy for me.
  • Any recommendation: live in student accommodation for 1 sem, then make a friend group and shift to an apartment afterwards; it is way cheaper.
