Griffith College Admission 2027
Griffith College runs three trimester intakes each year and uses rolling admissions, so Indian applicants should apply as early as possible before the target trimester. The primary intake for Indian students is Trimester 3 in October, followed by Trimester 1 in February or March.

|---|---|---|
| Trimester 3, 2026 application deadline | Expected late September 2026 (rolling; verify at StudyLink) | Apply immediately; visa lodgement should follow within 2 weeks of offer |

| Trimester 2, 2027 application window | Opens February 2027, rolling until May 2027 | Secondary intake with fewer diploma options |
| Credential verification via WES or VETASSESS | Start 6 to 8 weeks before applying | Class 12 marksheet plus school transcripts must be certified |

Griffith College Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Griffith College sets a Class 12 minimum plus one accepted English test for direct diploma entry, with no SAT or interview required for Indian applicants.
- Class 12 academic requirement: 55% aggregate in 4 academic subjects (CBSE, ICSE, or state boards) or 60% for NIOS, PSEB and HSEB boards, as officially published
- English proficiency: IELTS Academic 5.5 (no band below 5.0), TOEFL iBT 46, PTE Academic 42 (no band below 36), or Cambridge English 162 (min 154 each)
- Documentation: Class 12 marksheet, passport bio page, statement of purpose, financial evidence for Subclass 500 visa
- Programme-specific add-ons: Diploma of Engineering requires Class 12 mathematics; Diploma of Science and Health Sciences require a science subject at Class 12
Key insight: Indian students with English medium of instruction across Class 11 and 12 may qualify for an IELTS waiver at Griffith College, but the waiver is discretionary and must be requested with the school’s medium of instruction letter at the time of application.
Griffith College Acceptance Rate 2027
Griffith College does not publish an official acceptance rate, but third-party admissions data places it at 50 to 60% (estimated) for international applicants who meet the Class 12 and English thresholds. As a pathway college, the admissions filter is thinner than that of a research university, and offers are typically issued within 5 working days of a complete StudyLink application.
The 50 to 60% band reflects candidates who submit incomplete documents, fall short on the English test, or apply for programmes with intake caps such as Diploma of Engineering and Diploma of Health Care. Indian applicants who meet the published minimums with clean documentation see a much higher effective acceptance rate.
Reality check: The bigger risk for Indian applicants is not the diploma offer itself but the Subclass 500 student visa Genuine Temporary Entrant assessment, which currently rejects around one in six Indian visa applications for pathway colleges.

Griffith College operates on two campuses embedded within Griffith University sites, giving diploma students full access to the parent university’s libraries, sports centres and student services from day one.
- Location and transport: Southport (Gold Coast) sits on the G:link light rail line 15 minutes from Surfers Paradise; Mt Gravatt (Brisbane) sits 10 km south of the city centre on multiple bus lines
- Housing: No guaranteed on-campus accommodation for pathway students; Griffith University residences accept diploma students subject to availability, with private off-campus rents in the A$ 900 to A$ 1,400 range for a shared room
- Notable facility: Free shared access to Griffith University libraries, computer labs, gyms and health services on both campuses
- Indian student community: Active Indian student societies at both Griffith University campuses host Diwali and Holi events open to Griffith College students, and the Gold Coast has a growing Indian grocery and restaurant scene along Ferry Road
What Indian students say: Diploma students appreciate the smaller class sizes at Griffith College compared with direct-entry Griffith University lectures. Southport is quieter than Brisbane but easier for part-time hospitality work near Surfers Paradise.

Griffith University holds strong subject rankings in Nursing, Sports-Related Subjects and Hospitality Management, all of which are downstream degree destinations for Griffith College diploma graduates.
Key insight: The QS rank matters for Indian applicants because a Griffith University degree, completed via the Griffith College pathway, qualifies for Australia’s post-study work visa and is recognised by Indian public sector employers that maintain QS top 500 recruitment lists.

Griffith College Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Griffith College does not publish traditional placement statistics because it is a pathway college whose primary outcome metric is articulation into Griffith University bachelor’s degrees, not direct graduate employment.
- Articulation rate: Around 90% of diploma graduates who meet the required grade point average progress into second year at Griffith University (institution-reported)
- Career pathway: Bachelor’s graduates from linked Griffith University degrees earn a median starting salary of A$ 65,000 to A$ 72,000 (₹ 42.3 to 46.8 Lakh) per year, per graduate outcomes surveys (market median, indicative)
- Post-study work rights: Diploma graduates who complete the linked bachelor’s degree in Australia qualify for a 2 to 4 year Temporary Graduate visa Subclass 485
- Careers support: Diploma students access Griffith University Careers and Employment Service including CV workshops, employer events and internship listings from the second trimester onwards
- Sectors for Indian graduates: Business diploma graduates most often move into retail management, hospitality and analyst roles; IT diploma graduates into support engineering and software testing roles
Insider note: Recruiters on the Gold Coast prioritise tourism, hospitality and health-care roles, so Indian students in those diploma streams often line up part-time work in their first trimester that converts to a graduate offer.
Griffith College vs Peer Universities
The most useful comparison for Indian applicants is against other Navitas-operated pathway colleges attached to Group of Eight and mid-tier Australian universities.
| Pathway College | Parent University QS 2026 | Avg Annual Diploma Fee | One-line Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|
| Griffith College | #244 (Griffith University) | A$ 35,950 to 43,950 (₹ 23.4 to 28.6 Lakh) | Dual-campus access on Gold Coast and Brisbane |

Griffith College stands out among Navitas pathways because it combines a QS top 250 parent university with dual-campus geographic flexibility between the Gold Coast and Brisbane. It sits mid-pack on price and offers the strongest health and hospitality pathway options for Indian students.
Indian applicants comparing pathway colleges should weigh the parent university’s QS rank, the city rent profile, and the availability of English medium of instruction waivers, since these three factors together determine the true cost and success rate of the pathway.
Griffith College is the right choice for an Indian student who wants a supported diploma bridge into a QS top 250 Australian bachelor’s degree, expects to invest around ₹ 46 Lakh over one diploma year plus living costs, and values proximity to Gold Coast hospitality work or Brisbane’s health-sector employers. The study in Australia pathway ending in a Subclass 485 post-study work visa is the strongest India-specific advantage.
It is not the best fit for an applicant who already qualifies for direct entry into a Group of Eight bachelor’s degree with 85% Class 12 marks and IELTS 6.5, since the diploma year adds cost without added prestige. A realistic alternative for that profile is Monash College feeding into Monash University.
Griffith College FAQs
Ques. What English tests does Griffith College accept for Indian applicants?
Ans. Griffith College accepts IELTS Academic 5.5 (no band below 5.0), TOEFL iBT 46, PTE Academic 42 (no band below 36), and Cambridge English 162 (min 154 each) for direct diploma entry. Indian students from English-medium schools may request an IELTS waiver by submitting a medium of instruction letter from their Class 11 and 12 school. English-language pathway programmes are available on both campuses for candidates who fall short of the minimum score.
Ques. How long does a diploma at Griffith College take to complete?
Ans. Griffith College diplomas take between 2 and 3 trimesters, which is 8 to 12 months, depending on the programme and the student’s academic background. Diploma of Engineering and Diploma of Health Care typically run the full 3 trimester version, while Business and IT can be completed in 2 trimesters with a fast-track load. All diplomas are AQF Level 5 qualifications and progress directly into second year at Griffith University with full academic credit.
Ques. Can Indian students transfer from Griffith College to Griffith University?
Ans. Yes, this is the entire purpose of the pathway. Diploma graduates who meet the required grade point average, typically 4.0 or above on Griffith College’s 7 point scale, receive guaranteed articulation into the second year of the linked Griffith University bachelor’s degree with up to one full year of academic credit. Around 90% of diploma students meeting academic requirements progress successfully, according to institution-reported data.
Ques. Does Griffith College charge an application fee for Indian applicants?
Ans. No, Griffith College charges no application fee when Indian students apply directly through the StudyLink Connect portal or through an authorised Navitas education agent. A one-time enrolment fee of A$ 225 (around ₹ 14,641) is payable when the student accepts the offer, and this is separate from tuition. Any additional agent service charges are set by the individual agent and are not required for a valid application.
Ques. Which intake at Griffith College is best for Indian students?
Ans. Trimester 3 in October is the primary intake for Indian applicants because it aligns with CBSE and state board results released in May, giving students 4 to 5 months for credential verification and Subclass 500 visa processing. Trimester 1 in February or March is the second best option for students who want more preparation time. Trimester 2 in June is the smallest intake and offers fewer diploma programme choices.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at Griffith College?
Ans. Yes, the Subclass 500 student visa currently permits international students including Indian nationals to work up to 48 hours per fortnight during trimesters and unlimited hours during official college breaks. Popular part-time roles for Griffith College students include retail, hospitality on the Gold Coast, and campus tutoring at Griffith University. Wages typically range from A$ 24 to A$ 32 per hour, which covers a meaningful share of monthly rent and food costs.
Ques. Is a Griffith College diploma recognised in India for further education?
Ans. The AQF Level 5 diploma from Griffith College is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities for equivalence purposes, but most Indian students use it as a stepping stone to the linked Griffith University bachelor’s degree rather than returning after the diploma alone. It is the completed bachelor’s or master’s degree from Griffith University, not the pathway diploma, that Indian public sector recruiters and Indian universities consider for postgraduate admissions.
Ques. How much does one year at Griffith College cost an Indian student overall?
Ans. An Indian student should budget between A$ 55,950 and A$ 66,950 (₹ 36.4 to 43.6 Lakh) for a full year at Griffith College, combining diploma tuition of A$ 35,950 to A$ 43,950, monthly living costs of A$ 1,800 to A$ 2,630, and one-time expenses like enrolment fee, Overseas Student Health Cover and the Subclass 500 visa fee. Programme choice, campus city, and accommodation type drive most of the variation.
