University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA) operates a medical school at its Sydney Darlinghurst campus. The Fremantle campus in Perth covers Arts, Sciences, Business, Law, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, and Education. Fremantle is Category 2 regional; Sydney is not. Campus choice determines Subclass 485 eligibility.
UNDA acceptance rate is not officially published. Graduate employment rate is 79.6%, above the national average of 71.9%. UNDA's 5-star ratings in Teaching Quality, Skills Development, and Full-Time Employment from the Good Universities Guide distinguish it from larger universities with lower student support ratios.
English requirement varies by program. Most programs need IELTS Academic 6.5 to 7.0. Health professional programs (Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medicine) need higher IELTS scores. No part-time study for international students.
Indian applicants most commonly target the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Bachelor of Physiotherapy, and Master's programs in Education, Nursing, and Business. International students cannot study part-time at UNDA.

UNDA Application Deadlines & Intakes for Indian Students
UNDA runs two semesters per year: Semester 1 (February) and Semester 2 (July). Applications are rolling but most programs fill before the semester opens. Indian applicants should apply at least 14 weeks before the intended start for Subclass 500 visa processing. See the Australia student visa processing time guide. The Fremantle campus is in Perth (Category 2 regional); the Sydney campus is not regional.
What are the application deadlines for University of Notre Dame Australia?
- Semester 2 2026 (July): Open. Apply by approximately June 25, 2026.
- Semester 1 2027 (February): Open. Apply by October 2026 (health programs close earlier).
- Health professional programs (Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medicine): close earlier than business and arts programs.
- No application fee for online applications via the UNDA portal.
| Intake | Start | Apply By | Campus Regional Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Semester 2 2026 | July 2026 | ~June 25, 2026 | Fremantle = Regional; Sydney = not regional |
| Semester 1 2027 | February 2027 | October 2026 (health programs earlier) | Fremantle = Regional; Sydney = not regional |
Note:
- CRICOS: 01032F (both Fremantle and Sydney under one registration).
- International students cannot apply for part-time study at UNDA.
- All applicants must apply full-time.
Planning note: Semester 2 2026 is open with approximately 6 weeks remaining. If documents are ready (including IELTS), this intake is achievable. Health program applicants should confirm current availability directly with UNDA admissions. Semester 1 2027 (February) is the primary recommended intake for most Indian applicants.
Key insights: The campus choice at UNDA is a migration decision as much as an academic one. The Fremantle campus (Perth, Category 2 regional) gives eligible graduates access to extended Subclass 485 post-study work rights. The Sydney campus does not. Both offer similar program structures and accreditations. Nursing at Sydney is co-located with the Schools of Medicine and Midwifery at Darlinghurst. Nursing at Fremantle is integrated with the broader health sciences cluster. If Subclass 485 extension matters, choose Fremantle.
UNDA Eligibility Requirements for Indian Students
UNDA eligibility varies significantly by program discipline. Health professional programs have the highest academic and English thresholds. Business and Arts programs are more accessible. All programs require full-time enrollment for international students.
What are the academic eligibility criteria at UNDA?
- Undergraduate (all programs): Class 12 or international equivalent at a competitive level.
- Health sciences (Nursing, Physiotherapy): Class 12 with strong sciences (Biology, Chemistry recommended).
- Medicine (MD): bachelor's degree + competitive GAMSAT score. Not open to Class 12 applicants.
- Postgraduate: bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
What English proficiency does UNDA require?
UNDA English requirements vary by program. Nursing and allied health programs follow AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) standards, which are higher than general academic requirements. Compare IELTS and TOEFL, or see the IELTS vs TOEFL comparison.
| Program | IELTS Academic | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Business / Laws | 6.5 (no band below 6.0) | Standard academic threshold |
| Bachelor of Education | 7.5 (no band below 7.5) | TES registration standard |
| Bachelor of Nursing | 7.0 (no band below 7.0) | AHPRA nursing registration standard |
| Bachelor of Physiotherapy | 7.0 (no band below 7.0) | AHPRA physiotherapy standard |
| Postgraduate programs | 6.5 to 7.0 | Varies by program; confirm at nd.edu.au |
What documents do Indian students submit to UNDA?
- Online application via nd.edu.au (via post or online form).
- Class 12 and bachelor's academic transcripts with certified English translations.

For Subclass 500 visa guidance, see the Subclass 500 visa requirements page and the EL3 document checklist for 2026.
Key insights: UNDA's Nursing IELTS requirement (7.0 with no band below 7.0) reflects the AHPRA nursing registration standard that all nurses in Australia must meet. An Indian nursing graduate who studies at UNDA Fremantle with IELTS 7.0 is already meeting the AHPRA English standard required for nursing registration in Australia. The IELTS threshold is a career requirement, not just an admission hurdle.
UNDA Postgraduate Programs, Fees & Entry Requirements
UNDA postgraduate programs run at both campuses. Most postgraduate intake is at Fremantle. For current fees, see the UNDA profile page.

Key insights: UNDA is a Catholic university with a Graduate Medical Programme (MD) at the Sydney Darlinghurst campus. The MD is a postgraduate entry program: you must hold a completed bachelor's degree to apply. International applicants to the MD program must hold a GAMSAT score and a bachelor's with a competitive GPA. UNDA is one of very few Australian universities where any completed bachelor's degree qualifies as entry to a medical program.
UNDA Undergraduate Programs, Fees & Entry Requirements
UNDA undergraduate programs are spread across both Fremantle and Sydney campuses. Health professional programs (Nursing, Physiotherapy) at Fremantle integrate with the Perth health sector. Law at both campuses is distinct. For the full current program list, see the UNDA programs page.
| Program | Indicative Annual Fee | Duration | Entry |

| Bachelor of Nursing | AUD $30,000-38,000/year (₹20.69-26.22 Lakhs/yr) |
3 years / S1, S2 | Class 12; IELTS 7.0 (all bands); Fremantle or Sydney |

| Bachelor of Business | AUD $30,000-38,000/year (₹20.69-26.22 Lakhs/yr) |
3 years / S1, S2 | Class 12; IELTS 6.5; Fremantle and Sydney |
Physiotherapy is offered only at Fremantle (Perth regional). It is one of the most competitive undergraduate programs at UNDA. Physiotherapy graduates who complete the 4-year degree in Fremantle are in a AHPRA-registered profession with strong job demand in Perth's health sector.
Key insights: UNDA's graduate employment rate of 79.6% exceeds the national average of 71.9%. For Nursing, the 5-star ratings across Teaching Quality, Skills Development, and Full-Time Employment reflect placement outcomes in hospitals and aged care facilities. Indian nursing graduates who study at UNDA Fremantle have Perth regional post-study work rights for seeking Australian nursing registration and their first Australian hospital role.
UNDA Acceptance Rate
UNDA acceptance rate is not officially published. 79.6% of UNDA graduates find full-time employment, which suggests a selective but accessible institution. Health professional programs are more competitive than Business and Arts. The real competitive filter is the IELTS threshold: 7.0 with all bands for Nursing and Physiotherapy is a genuine barrier for most Indian applicants. See the study visa percentage guide for visa eligibility context.
Key insights: UNDA has a smaller enrolment than the major metro universities. Its Good Universities Guide 5-star ratings reflect this size advantage: smaller class sizes mean more contact time with faculty and clinical supervisors. Indian health professional students who struggled with large anonymous lecture environments at Indian universities find UNDA's size a practical advantage, not a compromise.
UNDA Admissions Process
Applications go via post or the online application form at nd.edu.au. No application fee. Decisions vary by program and campus. The UNDA admissions page on Collegedunia has a summary.
What is the step-by-step application process at UNDA?
- Apply online at nd.edu.au or via post to the relevant campus admissions office.
- Submit: transcripts, IELTS/TOEFL score, personal statement, GAMSAT (Medicine), passport copy.
- Decision arrives within 2 to 4 weeks for complete applications.
- Accept the offer; receive the UNDA Letter of Offer and Written Agreement.
- Pay the tuition deposit to receive the eCoE (CRICOS 01032F).
- Apply for Subclass 500 via ImmiAccount with the eCoE.
Key insights: UNDA does not permit international students to study part-time. This means the student visa workload calculation assumes full-time enrollment at all times. Indian students who need to work significantly during their studies to manage finances should factor this into their decision. UNDA's full-time requirement is stricter than at many private colleges where modular or flexible attendance is possible.
UNDA Admission Tips for Indian Students
Practical guidance for Indian applicants targeting UNDA, based on the health professional program requirements and campus-location migration differences.

- Physiotherapy is Fremantle-only. Confirm this before applying if Sydney is your preference.
