Academic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 hours of coursework; two courses in mathematics beyond pre-calculus; one year of science with laboratory; courses in computer science using a structured language, discrete structures, data structures, and computer architecture.
• Prior coursework in calculus (differential or integral), programming, probability and statistics.
• A 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 U.S. scale is typically equivalent to around 70–75% in the Indian grading system, depending on the university and its evaluation criteria.

English Proficiency Score

• IETLS: Score of 6.0 overall with no individual score below 5.0. / applicants requesting funding consideration must have an overall band score of 7.0 with no individual score below 6.0
• TOEFL: Score of 80 on the Internet exam (iBT) or 550 on the paper exam / applicants requesting funding consideration must have 600 on paper-based; or 100 on Internet-based
• PTE Academic: Score of 53 or higher on the PTE Academic Test. / applicants requesting funding consideration must have 68.

• Statement of purpose: In 250–500 words, explain why you want to pursue graduate study at George Washington University. Include your academic goals, research interests, career plans, and relevant qualifications such as academic, professional, and community achievements.
• Prior academic records: Applicants are required to upload and submit copies of transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended, whether or not the program was completed or the credit appears as a transfer credit on another transcript. Applicants who have earned a degree from an Indian university are required to submit individual semester marksheets.
• Letters of recommendation: Two (2) recommendations required for M.S. applicants. If possible, one recommendation should be from your advisor at the institution from which you earned your highest degree.
• English proficiency: All applicants are required to demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the admission requirement
