  • Overall, the difficulty level is high due to the immense competition and the level of difficulty of the content. It's usually a mixture of both theoretical and practical for engineering and for business, it's more towards the theoretical side. Usually, the engineering classes have labs for practical applications, which I really like.
  • It depends on the semester but usually I have 3-4 classes per day, each about 50 to 75 minutes. They usually start around 10:00 AM and can go on until the late afternoon, depending on the day. Lab sessions, office hours, and group meetings often fill up the rest of the day.
  • Introductory or core courses can have 300+ students, but upper-level electives are more intimate, with 100-150 students.
  • I don't know the exact number of Indian students but Cornell has a significant Indian student community, especially in STEM and business-related fields.

Fees

  • The fees charged are semester-wise; hostel is usually about $7000 for a semester, tuition is about $34,000, a dining hall meal plan is about $3000, health insurance is about $2000 and activity fees are about $200. My monthly expenses are around $75-100, which is spent mostly on food at restaurants around campus with friends or online shopping (I only go out 2-3 times in a month roughly). I use the free bus pass for transportation and rent is included in semester fees.

  • Finding Accommodation—My Experience Search Methods: I primarily used online platforms such as Facebook groups (like “Cornell Housing” or “Cornell University – Indian Students”) Ithaca Craigslist and Zillow Cornell Off-Campus Housing portal WhatsApp groups of incoming students and alumni.
  • Challenges Faced: High demand and limited supply near campus, especially during peak intake months Scams and fake listings, especially on open forums Unfurnished apartments and difficulty in arranging furniture as a new international student Finding roommates with matching lifestyle and budgets
  • Recommendations: Start looking at least 2–3 months in advance to get good options Verify listings through video calls or ask current students to visit if possible Prefer staying in grad student housing or areas like Collegetown, Maplewood, or near Commons for convenience. If budget allows, consider fully furnished shared apartments to reduce setup hassle

The courses were abundant and available in all fields. I felt a few more courses could be added for VLSI. The courses give you an in-depth understanding of the concepts.

Course syllabus is extremely relevant and MEM focuses on making us professionals in one year. It is intensive and 2 semester students take 16 credit hours per semester (on an average). I took 19.5 during my first semester so that I could apply for jobs in my second semester. MEM students can take classes in the business school as well which is a game changer as you share table with Johnson MBAs. My opinion is get through the engineering core classes in the first sem and then get exposure in the business classes of your interest.

Fees

$30,000 per semester which is $60,000 for MEM.

Cornell's curriculum is pretty amazing. Most graduate courses delve into cutting-edge research, and the professors teaching them often talk about their own research. I haven't taken any industry-specific courses or undergraduate courses, so I can't comment on the. industry exposure aspect, but that is definitely available.

Fees

The Ph.D program in physics costs a total of $75,000 per year (including the stipend, health insurance, etc.). The tuition alone is about $30,000. Although, almost no one ever pays for their doctorate education. You're almost always offered a fellowship, TAship, or RAship.

It is very educational with the help provided. It is very demanding which is a good way to prepare for hard work. They provide many different types of courses so you can always find something interesting to take.

Fees

They charge over $30,000 but provide very good financial aid. They help with tuition. Require expenses to be paid for.

It is very beneficial. I learn a great deal because the curriculum is very well managed. We study labor, economics, human resources, and many other studies. It is a flexible curriculum allowing me to also take Farsi.

Fees

They charge a very large amount of money for tuition. The tuition is very expensive and perhaps unaffordable. They charge more money for tuition than most other schools, especially New York State schools.
