George Mason University Chemistry Programs

The George Mason University’s Department of Chemistry:

• Offers 3 American Chemical Society (ACS) approved programs. 
• 24 Average number of students per lab
• 7% Bureau of Labor Statistics projected growth for chemistry jobs.

Their faculty have won multiple teaching awards, earned national NSF and NIH grants, and maintained active interdisciplinary research collaborations. They also work with government research labs in the Washington, D.C. area and on three separate Mason campuses, including the new Potomac Science Center.  

Their comprehensive education in chemistry is designed to prepare students for professional careers in chemistry and for advanced studies in chemistry and chemistry-related areas such as environmental science, material science, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, geochemistry, chemical waste management, pharmacy, forensic chemistry, and chemical engineering. Students planning medical, dental, or veterinary careers may meet the requirements of these professional schools by majoring in chemistry.
