University of Maryland Mathematics Programs

The rapid growth of the University of Maryland College Park and the Mathematics Department has accompanied the development of the state as a whole. The Mathematics Department has risen to a high national ranking with a distinguished faculty of about 55 professors whose research interests span many vital areas of the mathematical sciences. 

The Department of Mathematics educates its majors in a broad range of modern mathematics while instilling in them a strong ability to solve problems, ypu will apply mathematics to other areas, and create rigorous mathematical arguments. These programs prepare the students to further their mathematical education in graduate school, or to teach at the secondary school level, or to work in government or business.
