What Students Say
Likes
- The game nights, events in the university are the highlights.
- Theres nothing to dislike about UGA. It has been the best moments and learned a lot here.
Course Curriculum
- Coursework is updated time to time (trust me on this because I took the same course twice in different semesters, and the syllabus changed, adding new stuff related to AI the 2nd time)
- And yes, you do get research experience here at UGA.
- Per week, you would have 3 days of class work, mostly 3 hours per day. But make sure you try to get into any of the professor’s labs to do some research, you will learn a lot!
- On average youll mostly have 40 students in each class.
Admission Experience
- UGA provides a full fee waiver if you get an assistantship. So that was the first reason I joined.
- The computer science department has some amazing faculty like Jae Wo Lee, Prashanth Joshi, and Liming Cai. You learn a lot by working and solving problems. Mainly Liming Cai, he can make you a master of Algorithms in a few months.
- My scores: GRE 320, IELTS 8.0.
- 6.5 in IELTS is enough to apply.

Campus Life
- You have free buses till 3 am. And the Downtown here in Athens is the best in the USA.
- There will be events mostly every other week. And the recreational centre is open till 2 am. Definitely try to join a sports club its fun. I was part of a volleyball club, and we used to have tournaments every month.
Part Time Jobs
- I was working as a TA throughout my master's. The positions are low, so you have to be quick enough to apply and talk to different professors to get an assistantship. But don't worry about finding a Part time because every student will definitely get a on campus part time, and you can work 20 hours per week to earn close to 1300 dollars per month on avg.
- It would cost 700 dollars for your living expenses per month, so you should be good with the money. To apply for part-time jobs, you can go to ugajobportal and search for part-time jobs. Most of the students work in the dining hall.
Placement
- Close to 80 percent of my friends got full-time offers once they graduated with in few months. And the avg pay range was 80-100k.
- So you have these career fairs once every 6 months, where you get to meet a lot of alumni who can help you find the right internships and jobs.
Accommodation
- Most of the indian students live in a place — Arches over a lake. You can find the website online and try to apply for a lease. It would cost 500-600 per month, including utilities.
Exams
- IELTS OR TOEFL should be enough
- 3 LORS and 1 SOP are required
Fees
- It would cost close to 36000 USD for an MS in CS non-thesis. So it usually costs 1100 dollars per credit.
