Likes
- There are decent amount of food options but not a lot as compared to other big universities.
Dislikes
- The campus is little bit small as compared to other universities.
Course Curriculum
- The average number of students in class are 25. We have the flexibility to choose and schedule our class, we have to take minimum three classes per semester. The course is updated and relevant as per industry standards.
Admission Experience
- One of my reason was low tuition fees compared to other comparable universities, low cost of living if you are living in shared accommodation everything including rent, groceries utilities will come around $700. Also the fact they we are close the Washington DC which is a major hub for tech.
- For my course the GRE was waived off, so my IELTS band was 7.5
Faculty
- The faculty to student ration is 1: 25. Most of the faculty in Data Science are adjunct meaning they teach along with their full time jobs and are employed at senior positions in big organizations that really helps in giving insights about real world corporate life. All of them are approachable, if any one is not comfortable to ask questions during the class there is always an option to email them, they will respond within 24-48 hours.
Campus Life
- There are various sports facilities for basketball, swimming, baseball, football and indoor games like snooker, chess, table tennis, and many more. A lot of events takes place throughout the year.
Part Time Jobs
- The minimum wage is 15/hr so most of the student earn around $15/hr.Many of the students got jobs in food-services, thorough referral from seniors or directly talking to hiring managers right from the first day of the college and for administrative jobs they are listed on portal called Handshake.
- The maximum hours of work allowed per week is 20.It is difficult in the first semester due to large volume of new students coming in, but the process gets easier once you settle in.
- For Data Science you have to fill out a form given by the department but the eligibility is after you complete 2 semester whereas for CS and IS you have to maintain a good relationship with the professor.
Placement
- Right now the job market is terrible so i cant give you the exact percentage of people finding jobs. The average salary for a Data Analyst or Business Analyst is above $70,000 annually. Most of the students find jobs on portals like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor.
Accommodation
- Through whatsapp or facebook groups, I was able to connect with like minded people who were looking for accommodation.
- People can also look on websites like apartments.com or zillow to find the best suited apartment for them.
- The average rent for entire 2bhk apartment will be 1300-1400 usd
Exams
- IELTS, SOP, LOR, CV is necessary for the admission process.
Fees
- The tuition fees of the program is 42,000 USD including the health insurance.
