Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
- I chose Depaul university for its industry-focused curriculum, Strong tech Presence in chicago and excellent career support. The Program perfectly aligned with my goal. It has a diverse community and the hands-on learning environment made it an ideal choice for my growth. These are all the considerations that I had.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
- There were no challenges, but I had received my acceptance letter for the next semester , so I just dropped it and didn't move forward. Other than that, I didn't have anything in my mind, and i think it's my fault that few of the universities like these require us to put our application in 8 months before getting into them, as far as I know.

Tips to enhance your application
- We need to have good grades from schooling and in tests like IELTS, TOEFL, and GRE, and also a good CV and SOP. Firstly, we need to have a good SOP that states why we are considering that particular university apart from others and also we need to have LORs from three different people and those should have a letterhead and be authorized.
Admission Experience
- I chose the United states for its globally recognized education system as all know, and my university stood out for its strong academic reputation, especially in Information Systems and because it is located in Chicago and provided many career opportunities through tech exposure. And it helped me grow both professionally and personally.
Class Schedule
- It's according to the classes that i choose if I choose 3 classes per semester, then we have 3 classes per week.
- Timings are from 5:30PM to 9:00PM for most of my classes which I had. Strength is just 25 People per session. 30% of my class are indians in my course. Apart from classes, few assignments will take 2 hrs - 4 hrs per day.
Faculty
- The ratio is like 1:25 per session, which helps to have a good and healthy conversation with our Professors. Yele is my favorite Professor, I like his teaching style and he is more interactive. In some cases they prefer to help us in internships and study of their PHD papers which they have written.
Campus Life
- Depaul has two campuses and that's in downtown Chicago, and they have good transportation and I like that to travel even if we have evening classes. There are 20-25 per shift every day, and they help us in every detail if we find any difficulty. There are many fests that are going on on the campus every week.
Part Time Jobs
- On average, 60% of Indians prefer to work on campus part-time and to get over the burden on parents for living expenses and daily basic needs that each individual has and it is a bit tough to get into on-campus work, which is through referral and we have online university portals that they post every job online every week if they have any necessity.
- As far as I know, most of the students will get on-campus referrals, and the pay is between $25 and $30 per hour. Other on-campus jobs are also available through referral and the wage is between $16 and $20 per hour. 20 hours is allowed and that's the maximum per week when we have classes and we can work up to 40 hours per week on holidays.
Placement
- To my knowledge, 60% of people will secure jobs within 6-months and now the market is too tough, and most of the tech jobs are through referrals. Average Salary is $70k-$90k if they are in the software tech field, like data science and cloud backgrounds. Mostly through Online Platforms like linkedin people search for jobs, the Min $50k and a maximum of $150k.
Accommodation
- There are many platforms for accommodation, like WhatsApp groups. I didn't face any difficulties. After i received my I-20, our university provided a whatsapp and facebook groups link and I have joined, and that helps me a lot. As a recommendation just use the whatsapp groups for more Indian communities.
