Course Curriculum

8

  • The academics are really great in our university and the difficulty of course curriculum I would rate it as medium.
  • The students should take courses based on the professors, there are professors who are very strict while grading the assignments. So, students should make sure they select the professors who are friendly for their courses. Students should take advise from seniors.

Admission Experience

  • I have applied to three universities namely University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati and Sacred Heart University.
  • I got offers from all the three universities listed above.
  • I haven't faced any rejections from any universities , I have got offer letters from all the three universities I have applied to.
  • Out of all the three universities I felt University of Cincinnati would be the best one to choose because it has better campus life and better on campus part time opportunities compared to the other 2 universities I have applied to.
  • I chose this university because of a better campus and infrastructure. Some of my friends were also in this college. The college has good campus life and it's a high prestige college.
  • Coming to the admission process of the university, I have applied to this university through the university of cincinnati application form available on its official website. Then I have submitted my LORS, my IELTS score which is 7 band and then the GRE score which was 315. The accepted threshold scores are 310 for GRE and 6.5 for IELTS. So, I got an offer letter from this university in the month of August. The overall admission experience was very smooth and I didn't face any difficulty. The university also issued the I20 after showing 45 lakhs bank loan statement.
  • I applied for the spring intake. I wasn't ready for the fall intake. I did not have a plan of going to the masters, I had taken this decision around march-arpil, So the time wasn't enough to apply for the fall. So I applied for the spring intake which starts in January. The application process was initiated in the month of June. I have applied for the university in the month of June and I got my offer letter in the month of august. Then I got my I20 in the month of September. I completed my visa interview in the month of November. I boarded my flight to Cincinnati in the month of December.

Faculty

8

  • The faculty to student ratio in our university is 1:18 and Students get high chances to collaborate with the professors.
  • The quality of education is very good at this university and teaching methodology used by the faculty members is using presentations and practical projects.
  • Most of the faculty use PowerPoints or practical tools like google colab for showing the work to students.

Campus Life

10

  • My College has 3-4 campuses here in Cincinnati. One is in Clermont, other one is in blueAsh and other is in west Cincinnati.
  • All the campuses provide a library and very big sports stadium like Basketball indoor stadium where inter-university matches are played.
  • They have medical services covered through University health services.
  • They have popular and regular events for international students. Sports are very regularly held at our very famous Nippert Stadium.

Part Time Jobs

  • The teaching assistant positions have become very less these days due to lacking of funds to the university. Earlier, almost 10-15 students out of 50 students used to get TA or GA positions, but now it has been reduced to 1-2 out of 50 students. The pay range for ta and ga positions is 1200-1400 USD per month. The other on campus jobs available are at food courts, libraries and IMPACT. The max working hours are 20 per week. The ease of securing an on campus job is medium difficulty.
  • Most of the students tend to secure an on campus part time which is somewhat difficult. You need luck on your side to secure on campus Jobs for part time. The hourly pay rate for the on campus part time jobs are usually 11USD per hour. If you are working under your professors on research related projects, you may get unto 15 -18 USD per hour. Whereas the TA and RA roles get 1200-1400 USD per month.

Placement

6

  • The job market is really tough right now. So, irrespective of university the chances of landing a job in the market is really tough. The percentage of students landing a job before 6 month of graduation is 20 percent.
  • The average salary range lies between 45k - 75k USD. Students have to attend career fairs and apply jobs through Linkedin. Some of my friends who got placed were placed through a consultancy. Amazon, Medpace and Kinetic Vision are three major companies that hire students from our college every year.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I opted for an accommodation outside the camps. I felt the campus dorms are comparatively costly compared to the off campus dorms. The off campus accommodation is quite cheap if you take a flat with 4 or 5 of your friends.
  • I have a taken a flat with 5 of my friends which costs me around 360 USD per month for my rent. My monthly expenses for my accommodation would be around 400 USD per month.

Exams

  • The exams that are accepted by my university are the IELTS, GRE and Duolingo. I have given my IELTS exam in the month of February and GRE in the month of June.
  • These two exams played an important role in my selection to the university. The documents necessary to complete the admission process are Statement of Purpose, 3 LOR’S from my undergraduate professors and CV.

Fees

  • The Fees structure was around 30 lakhs in INR. It would be around 26k to 27k USD. In the I20, it is mentioned to carry around 50 lakhs in INR. But the fees including the health insurance issued by the university would charge around 27k USD for the student, the student can also bag a part time on campus for his monthly expenses.
  • I had a scholarship of 6240 USD for my first year of the course. This scholarship is split between the two semesters of the first year in my university.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received a scholarship of around 6240 USD from University of Cincinnati. The scholarships are mostly given based on the marks or grades of Bachelor's degree.
  • The person's with 3-4 years of experience are selected for ta and ga positions. I personally received a scholarship of 6240 USD. Some of my mates received the same amount of scholarship as me while some didn't even receive a scholarship this year.
