Course Curriculum

10

  • Course is Ms finance and if you are not into investing world you wont like the course, as it is all about that. but you will only grow when you are uncomfortable so this can be your opportunity to learn and explore NYSE and dive into trading.
  • Via handshake you can apply and get on campus jobs

Admission Experience

  • I had only applied to 2,
    1. UNT which I got admitted to, I got my GRE/GMAT waived as I said them I have 3.7/4 GPA in my Bachelors. So if you have more than 3.5 it would be waived, but I m unsure of current situation. I got visa denial once for fall and I had reapply for next intake- Spring, UNT had emailed the i20 deferring my application within two hours of my visa refusal.
    2. I applied to University of Houston Main campus, but I never heard them back, tried to reach them out a lot wasted my $80 - I applied for Ms in Supply chain management.
  • I had applied both the universities on my own from their official websites- did not go to consultancies
  • I choose UNT as I knew a few people here in same university, and that I was getting STEM program in finance as most universities do not offer STEM to business related fields. plus was that this has only 30 credits which means I can complete my program in 3 semesters as well.
  • As mentioned above GRE/GMAT is mandate to apply for this course, however you can seek wavier if you have good grades in bachelors.
  • Admission process wasn't difficult, you just need three LORs, SOP, transcripts to be mailed to them. Fairly easy and fast.
  • May -I submitted my application in early May. This included completing the application form, paying the application fee, and uploading all required documents such as transcripts, test scores IELTS, statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation.
  • After submission, I received a confirmation from the university that my application was complete and under review.
  • July -In mid-July, I received my official admission offer. I reviewed the acceptance letter for confirming my spot and providing any additional information needed to issue the I-20.
  • I formally accepted the offer by completing an acceptance form.
  • August- After I confirmed my acceptance, the university processed my I-20.

Class Schedule

10

  • You can choose one online class and two offline classes, each class is once a week for 3 hours and it is mostly afternoon or evenings.
  • A class in business department usually has 25-30 students, 40% of which are Indians.
  • Job market is currently low but there are many career fairs which can make you practice how to face the outside companies and have more knowledge on the job roles, professors motivate to take internships before actual job.

Campus Life

10

  • Mainly three campuses-
  • Main is Denton- all business courses classes are here
  • Frisco mostly undergrad class are here (new campus established 2023 Jan)
  • Discovery park (buses available from Denton campus) (20mins from Denton) Computer and Engineering classes
  • All three has all facilities- Library, The Maker Space, cafes
  • Events such as solar eclipses day, football matches, halloween, diwali, holi everything is celebrated here and you will love it

Part Time Jobs

  • You wont get a TA /RA role easily in Business department as Professors do not need TAs as there are not many students in each class. one TA is shared among 2/3 professors. but if you want TAship you get it only after 2 semesters and that your grate should be A in all subjects. pay is 20$ per hour for RA/TA.
  • 20 hours of work allowed
  • other campus jobs are not very difficult to get but you need to be patient and keep apply on handshake.
  • The starting pay range is $9.25 so 20 hours per week, so student can pay their living expenses however fees cannot be paid from on campus work. Impossible. Handshake is portal which is like linkedin where you create your profile and apply to jobs, make sure you don't use AI for cover letters. As those are not chosen, you need to stand out, you will have 2 interviews usually for on campus role.

Placement

8

  • Market is slow and you need to be extra ordinary to secure a job anywhere in US. So know that all job fairs you attend and learn to better yourself. there are resume, interview events that you can attend and make sure you're professional at it
  • Events make you get connected with professionals around your career path. Companies do not come and directly hire, they just ask you to scan QR go to website and apply later

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • Off campus accommodation is best and cheap, you will learn so much living with roommates and cook by yourself make friends. it is not very expense too, you can live for 300-400$ rent.
  • Challenges are in winters there are too many cockroaches at all accommodations near the campus so you just have to be careful, and it is very cold in January month get your jackets
  • The whole area is equipped with UNT BUS FACILITY so you can either walk or get on bus.

Exams

  • IELTS, GRE/GMAT
  • 3 LOR, SOP, Resume
  • No interview

Fees

  • Total 4 semester fees, $40,000. Each semester is around $10,000. you can either pay through EMI, every month installments or at once. EMI costs $35 extra for full semester which is not much.
  • Additionally if you work on campus at Library or Teaching/research assistant position you get wavier, and you pay 40% less tuition.
  • Monthly expense, stay near university 400$ room sharing, no transportation cost as campus bus is available, other food and other expenses maximum $250-300.

Scholarship

  • I had applied to eagle scholarship as in every student applies for that but I haven't heard anyone get that. After all research from so many sources in conclusion - No scholarships for Masters Students at UNT. No one has received since past 3 years as per previous students and professors knowledge.
  • Unlike master's students, undergraduate (bachelor's degree) students at the University of North Texas (UNT) have access to scholarship opportunities. These scholarships can help reduce the cost of tuition and may be awarded based on various factors, such as academic performance, extracurricular involvement, financial need, or specific fields of study.
  • If you work on campus at Library or Teaching/research assistant position you get wavier, and you pay 40% less tuition.
