Course Curriculum

10

  • My course is perfectly good and well structured where I can learn on campus classes and develop my personal skills as well.
  • For my first semester I had two technical subjects including Python and Statistics for Business Analytics and one management subject named, Management Information System that helped my develop my both technical and management skills.

Admission Experience

  • IIT Chicago - Accepted
  • UMBC - Accepted
  • University of Illinois Springfield - Accepted
  • California State University, Long Beach - Accepted
  • University of Pacific - Accepted
  • Njit - Reject
  • The ones I got accepted were confirmed admission
  • 1 college I got rejected.
  • I think the max number of intake was occupied by other students, so I got rejected.
  • The curriculum is very much aligned to my interest field of study.
  • University located in California allows me to explore more job opportunities and build good network with the industry experts in Silicon Valley.
  • Weather of California is pretty similar to India's western coast, so I can adjust in winters.
  • I applied on the official California State University portal, selecting proper course and city of the University. I received the acceptance letter from the university within next 2 months, on which I had to give my response through the university's Student Portal, whether I accepted the offer or rejected or deferred it, within the given deadline.
  • I accepted the offer and confirmed my admission by paying a deposit of $150(this amount was refunded on 1st semester completion).
  • For acceptance I had submitted my GRE, Toefl scores, Marksheet of past 7 semesters of my undergrad course, a Statement of Purpose, 3 Letter of recommendations - one from my Project Guide, one from the Head of Department and another one from my Internship mentor.
  • Overall process is a smooth, just need to keep a check on emails and take follow up with the university if any difficulty or issue arises. Initially I faced difficulty while getting the health insurance, as the process of United states is different from India.
  • I applied for Fall'24 intake, I always had a dream to explore international education and aim to work in the Silicon valley to learn the industry pattern and businesses.
  • It took me around 7 to 8 months for overall process, from giving GRE and Toefl exams to getting my Visa accepted
  • In July I started preparing for my GRE
  • In September I gave the exam, then gave Toefl in October and started university application in October end and November. It took some time to finish the process as it involved many things to be covered like University specific SOP, Letter of recommendation from different professors and mentors, etc. Completed applications by December mid. Got Acceptance and rejections till February and March. Later I was able to schedule my Visa appointment by May. and I was done.

Class Schedule

10

  • I have classes 3 days per week, one subject each day for 3 hrs long class, usually timings are 7pm to 9:45pm.
  • For me there are positive points regarding my classes as I get enough time to do assignments and self study.
  • Average number of students is 35 to 40
  • 60 percent of the students are Indian in my class

Faculty

10

  • The student to faculty ratio is 1:12, which makes a perfect sense for quality of education
  • The research and experience of every professor is inspiring and helps me to learn deep knowledge in every domain I am assigned to.
  • Finding a part time and full time depends on every individual's hard work, but yes good networking and connections with the professor can lead to create a good bond, where the professor would never say no to help.
  • For me all of my professors are admiring as every one has its specialization in their respective field. One has an absolute solid research background where as other has great experience in the tech industry.

Campus Life

10

  • California State University has 23 campus across California
  • Facility of Library is accessible to the whole university, other facilities like university gym and sports and other clubs depends on every departments.

Part Time Jobs

  • To secure TA and RA opportunities, students show up to the professor and reach out to them willingly. The professor and dean of the department chooses the position at the end.
  • Pay range depends on the project and professor, roughly the range is between $17 to $20 per hour.
  • There are many other on campus jobs which students get into like Building Manager, Recreation center manager, Front desk attendee at different departments, Retail store employee, multi media coordinator, Student Live guard, Technician, Student Assistant, Subject Tutor and other dining jobs as well.
  • If you start looking for jobs before coming to the US, one can get a part time job at the start of the semester as the positions start opening in that period, later there are high chances to get by referral or later in the next semester.
  • The hourly earnings depend on the job role and its requirements as well. It ranges anywhere between $14 to $17 hourly. If you start looking for jobs before coming to the US, one can get a part time job at the start of the semester as the positions start opening in that period, later there are high chances to get by referral or later in the next semester.
  • There are openings at beach shops website, ASI Work website and CareerLink for my university to find the applications. Once the resume screening is done, the HR contacts for further information if you are aligned to their requirements. Later if selected for interview an in person or online interview is scheduled for the particular job role.

Placement

8

  • The graduation percentage is 89 percent of my university and 95 percent specifically of my College which is the College of Business. The alumni average salary ranges between $45k to $90k yearly.
  • Again as mentioned earlier it depends on the individual, role and firm as well. Students start their job search and could successfully land a job by consistent applications, networking and skill build up.
  • Learning new trends of the industry acts as a cherry on the cake. Many of my Senior batch who Graduated in Fall'24 are placed and working in good mid companies in the States.
  • Major companies they work in is Amazon, Yamaha, Tesla, Morgan Stanely, BNY Mellon, State Street.
