Likes
- Diversity - You can see people from various countries and there's rich diversity.
- Academics- I am in Computer Science Major, Some of the subject is really good and professors are very understanding and expert in their field.
Dislikes
- In some classes there are lots of students so you get less opportunity to interact to the professor but you can reach out to the professor in the office hour after the class or through e-mail. you will get quick response from the professor on e-mail.
There are few factors on which I chose this University: 1. Academics - Its computer science program has good ranking in USA. 2. Tuition Fees - It has affordable tuition fees which was under my budget. 3. Proximity to Silicon Valley - This university is in California and it is close to Silicon Valley. My overall experience at CSU Long Beach is good overall. I like the academia and facilities provided to the students and International Student Department is very helpful and understanding.
Course Curriculum
In my opinion, many of my course curriculum is up to date (These are important subject like Advance algorithms , AI , Advance computer architecture)but few need to re-structured(like Advance Programming Language).
Exams
I have submitted my CV and GRE and TOEFL scores. In CV, I have highlighted all my technical skills and development projects that I worked upon. No, I have not any round of interview or university specific tests.
Placement
There is job fair in University but the companies that visit mostly prefer native students. For International Student It a bit hard to get on campus job because there is a tough competition and there are very less IT companies that visit campus to hire International Students.
Internship
No, I have not opted for any internship yet.
Fees
3 subject cost 7600 approx USD per semester and each subject hold 3 units. you need 30 units to complete the degree.
Scholarship
No, I haven't received any scholarship.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is good .Faculty and staff is very helpful and easy to approach.
Campus Life
Campus life in CSULB is very good and interesting. There is lots of events and activities going on in the campus. You meet people of different ethnicity . You have option to play games such as bowling , pool in sport arena. You can play board game and card game in lounge. There is multi-story library each floor is divided accounting to students need be it silent floor to floor with computer systems where you can use desktops for your work.
Hostel
For Master Student, there is no on campus facilities. There are other options where you can find accommodation which is near to the University like Beverly Plaza apartment, Park Avenue, Bay hill apartment etc. Most of the student stay in these places.
