Course Curriculum

6

  • The course curriculum is moderately challenging, offering a mix of theoretical and practical learning.
  • Positives include hands-on projects and industry exposure, while heavy workloads can be a drawback.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to the following universities:
    • Stevens institute of technology - accepted
    • Suffolk university - accepted
    • Northeastern university - waitlisted
    • Baruch college - rejected
    • Rochester institute of technology - waitlisted
    • Boston university - rejected
    • Pace University—accepted
  • I confirmed my admission in Stevens institute of technology
  • I faced rejections from Boston university and Baruch college
  • For Boston University I didn’t spend a lot of time writing a good SOP, and for Baruch I didn’t have the GRE score required.
  • The only reason I decided to go for Stevens Institute was because of the location being so perfect and close to NYC; nothing could be better than that for a finance student.
  • The steps were fairly simple: you put in an application with your IELTS, GRE scores, SOP, college transcript, and recommendation letters, and based on this information, you’d find out your decision.
  • My university accepts GRE, GMAT, IELTS, & TOEFL scores. I don’t think there is a minimum score in this university for anything as far as your profile is good, and if you’re below the average then there can be an expection
  • I applied for the Fall 2023 intake, influenced by program availability, career goals, and ample preparation time.its best to take advantage of early application for a good chance at acceptance.
  • Submitted my application in December 2022, completed my documentation in January 2023, and received my admission offer in February 2023, allowing sufficient time for visa processing, househunting, and preparing for the move.

Class Schedule

6

  • Classes typically run 1-2 per day, lasting 1.5-3 hours.
  • The timings were usually in the evening
  • My class averages 40 students, with about 30 Indian students enrolled

Faculty

8

  • The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:20, enabling personalized attention and effective interaction. Faculty use case studies, discussions, and practical projects to ensure job readiness. Some professors actively assist with job placements through their networks. I admire Professor Frank Manzi for their industry insights and mentorship, which truly inspire students.

Campus Life

10

  • My college has one main campus located in Hoboken, New Jersey. Facilities include a well-equipped library, fitness center, sports courts, and on-campus medical services.

Part Time Jobs

  • Around 20-30% of students secure TA/RA/DA positions, with pay ranging from $12 to $20/hour. Other on-campus jobs include library assistant, IT help desk, and dining services, offering $10-$15/hour. Students can work up to 20 hours per week. Securing jobs depends on networking and timing, with TA/RA roles being more competitive than general campus jobs.
  • Students typically earn $15 per hour for part-time jobs on campus. Securing part-time employment can be competitive, especially for roles like TA/RA, but other positions such as library assistants or dining services are easier to get. To apply, students usually search job boards, submit resumes, attend interviews, and follow up with hiring departments.

Placement

4

  • Around 85% of my graduating batch secures employment within 6 months of completing the course. The average salary range for graduates is $60,000 to $80,000 annually. Most students find jobs through campus recruitment, networking, internships, and online job portals.
  • My batchmates have been placed in companies like Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, and JPMorgan, in roles such as financial analysts and consultants. Major companies hiring graduates include PwC, EY, and Accenture.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I found my accommodation through online platforms and student groups on Telegram. The rent was $700/month, excluding utilities like Wi-Fi and laundry. Challenges included high competition and securing a lease remotely. I recommend starting early and joining student networks. My place is a 35-minute walk from campus; most Indian students stay nearby in shared apartments.

Exams

  • For admission, I needed GRE and TOEFL scores.
  • Required documents included my Statement of Purpose (SOP), Letters of Recommendation (LOR), CV, transcripts, and financial proof. There was no interview as part of the application process. The tough part was probably getting transcripts for college.
  • The application process was fairly straightforward and simple, nothing too complicated or unusual.

Events

8

  • Major events include TechFest, Cultural Night, and Career Fairs.
  • Extracurriculars range from sports teams and cultural clubs to student organisations like the Finance Society and dance groups.

Fees

  • The entire course cost $65,000 for everything, including the tuition cost and the additional fees charged on it, along with the health insurance
  • The fees are charged every semester based on the credits you’re taking that semester.
  • The college also offers payment plan options.
  • Monthly expenses are as follows:
    • Rent: 700
    • Transport 50
    • Groceries 250
    • WiFi 20
    • Utilities 60

Scholarship

  • Yes I did receive a scholarship worth $6000.
  • It was an academic scholarship provided to students and the eligibility criteria were GPA and GRE scores.
  • I was awarded a scholarship worth 6000 dollars.
  • Yes, approximately 30% of the class received scholarships upon request, and there aren’t any other options to receive financial aid.
  • If you request, then you might be able to get at least some scholarships.
  • The typical award amount ranges between 4000 and 18000
