Ques. What is the difference between BA Sanskrit and BA (Hons.) Sanskrit at SKDU?
Ans. The BA Sanskrit is a 3-year general degree programme, while the BA (Hons.) Sanskrit is a 4-year specialised Honours programme under NEP 2020. The Honours programme offers a deeper, more focused study of Sanskrit language, grammar, and classical literature, with a research component in the 4th year. Graduates of the Honours programme are better positioned for MA Sanskrit, PhD, and academic careers in Indology and classical studies.
Ques. Do I need to have studied Sanskrit in Class 11 and 12 to apply for BA (Hons.) Sanskrit at SKDU?
Ans. No, there is no mandatory requirement to have studied Sanskrit at the 10+2 level for admission to BA (Hons.) Sanskrit at SKDU. The minimum eligibility is 10+2 from any stream with 36% aggregate marks. However, students who have studied Sanskrit at the school level will have a foundational advantage in the programme.
Ques. What is the total fee for BA (Hons.) Sanskrit at SKDU?
Ans. The total academic fee for the 4-year BA (Hons.) Sanskrit programme is Rs. 1,16,000 (tuition Rs. 1,00,000 + other charges Rs. 16,000). This works out to approximately Rs. 29,000 per year, making it very affordable. Hostel charges (approximately Rs. 2,88,000 for 4 years) are optional and charged separately.
