AU MA FAQs
Ques. Is CUET PG mandatory for admission to MA Political Science at Apex University, or can I get direct admission?
Ans. CUET PG is not strictly mandatory for all seats. Apex University allocates 50% of seats through CUET PG scores and the remaining 50% through its own entrance test, AUCET. Students who have not appeared in CUET PG can still apply through AUCET. However, appearing in CUET PG also makes you eligible for additional scholarships (up to 50% fee waiver for 90th percentile and above), so it is advisable to attempt it if you are targeting merit-based financial aid.
Ques. Can I pursue UPSC or RPSC preparation alongside this MA programme? Does the university support it?
Ans. Yes, MA Political Science is one of the most popular optional subjects for UPSC Civil Services and RPSC exams, and the curriculum at Apex University is well-aligned with the UPSC syllabus, covering Indian political thought, constitutional development, international relations, and public administration. While the university does not run a dedicated UPSC coaching cell, the academic environment and library resources support self-preparation. Many students from this programme have gone on to appear in civil services examinations.
Ques. What is the actual fee I will pay per semester, and are there any hidden charges beyond the tuition fee?
Ans. The tuition fee is Rs. 15,000 per semester, totalling Rs. 60,000 for the 2-year programme. Beyond this, students are required to pay miscellaneous charges such as application/form fee, enrollment fee, examination fee, and uniform fee (if applicable). These are not covered under any scholarship or concession. Hostel charges (if opted) are separate: non-AC rooms cost Rs. 15,000 per semester excluding food. It is advisable to confirm the exact miscellaneous fee breakup with the admissions office at the time of joining.
Ques. What career options are realistically available after completing MA Political Science from Apex University?
Ans. Graduates can pursue careers in civil services (IAS, IFS, IPS, RPSC), public administration, political consultancy, NGOs, international organisations (UN bodies, think tanks), journalism, and academia. The degree also qualifies you to appear for NET/JRF (conducted by NTA) for a career in college teaching or research. While the university's placement cell primarily focuses on management and technical programmes, humanities graduates have found roles in media, research organisations, and government sectors. The degree's value is significantly enhanced if combined with competitive exam preparation.
Ques. How does the AUCET scholarship work in practice? If I score well in AUCET, do I get the scholarship from the first semester itself?
Ans. The AUCET scholarship is disbursed from the even semester (i.e., Semester 2 onwards), not from the first semester. In the first semester, you are required to pay 50% of the programme fee without any late fee. The scholarship amount is then adjusted in subsequent even semesters, provided you maintain the required academic performance (minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.0 in each semester, 75% attendance, no year/semester drop). If you fail to meet these conditions in any semester, the scholarship is discontinued for that year, though you may reapply if you regain eligibility in the following year.
Ques. Is there any provision for students who want to switch from MA Political Science to another programme mid-way, or take a break?
Ans. Apex University's scholarship and academic policies do not permit semester or year drops under any circumstances for scholarship holders, as this leads to automatic discontinuation of the scholarship. For non-scholarship students, the university's general academic regulations apply, and any break or transfer would need to be formally approved by the administration. Students considering a programme change should contact the Student Facilitation Centre at the university directly, as policies may vary by case. It is strongly advised to clarify this before admission if you foresee any such possibility.
