AU B.Tech (Lateral) CSE FAQs
Ques. I have a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Can I apply for B.Tech Lateral Entry in CSE at Apex University?
Ans. Yes, you can. The eligibility criteria at Apex University for B.Tech Lateral Entry states that candidates must have passed a minimum 3-year/2-year Diploma in ANY branch of Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category). There is no restriction on the diploma branch, so a Mechanical Engineering diploma holder is eligible to apply for B.Tech CSE Lateral Entry. However, you should be prepared for a transition in subjects, as the CSE curriculum will be significantly different from your diploma stream.
Ques. What is the difference between AUCET and CUET for admission to B.Tech Lateral Entry at Apex University? Which one should I appear for?
Ans. Both AUCET (Apex University Common Entrance Test) and CUET (Common University Entrance Test by NTA) are accepted for admission to B.Tech Lateral Entry at Apex University, with 50% seats allocated to each. AUCET is Apex University's own entrance test and also serves as the primary basis for merit scholarships - scoring well in AUCET can get you up to 100% tuition fee waiver. CUET is a national-level exam and its score can also fetch you a scholarship (up to 50% for 90+ percentile). If you are already appearing for CUET, you can use that score. If not, appearing for AUCET is recommended as it is simpler and directly linked to Apex University's scholarship structure.
Ques. Is the B.Tech Lateral Entry degree from Apex University valid and recognised? Will it be accepted for government jobs or higher studies?
Ans. Apex University, Jaipur is a UGC-recognised private university established under the Rajasthan Private Universities Act. The B.Tech degree awarded is a full-fledged university degree and is recognised by UGC and AICTE. It is valid for government job applications, higher studies (M.Tech, MBA, etc.), and GATE examination. However, for specific government recruitment boards, it is advisable to verify the eligibility criteria of the respective exam/post, as some may have specific requirements regarding the type of institution.
Ques. How does the placement process work for B.Tech Lateral Entry students? Are lateral entry students treated differently from regular B.Tech students during placements?
Ans. At Apex University, lateral entry students are part of the same department and are eligible to participate in all placement drives conducted by the Placement Cell. There is no differentiation between regular and lateral entry students during campus placements. The university has reported a highest package of 38 LPA and an average package of 10 LPA across engineering programmes, with 700+ placement drives and top recruiters including CarDekho, iZOOlogic, Celebal Technologies, and Tele Performance. Since lateral entry students complete the programme in 3 years, they graduate alongside the regular batch students who entered in the 2nd year, ensuring equal placement opportunities.
Ques. Can I get a hostel at Apex University? What are the approximate costs and is it mandatory?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at Apex University is optional and not mandatory for B.Tech Lateral Entry students. The university provides hostel facilities on campus. Non-AC rooms in double or triple sharing are available at approximately Rs. 15,000 per semester (excluding food charges), or Rs. 8,000 per month excluding food. Students can apply for hostel and transport facilities through the official portal at apexuniversityjaipur.ac.in/Facility-Form/. It is advisable to apply early as seats are limited.
Ques. What happens if I miss the Early Bird Scholarship deadline? Are there other scholarships I can still avail?
