AU B.Des FAQs
Ques. Does Apex University Jaipur accept NIFT scores for B.Des Fashion Design admission, or is it only CUET and AUCET?
Ans. Apex University primarily admits students through CUET (50% seats) and AUCET (50% seats) for the B.Des Fashion Design programme. NIFT scores are not used for direct admission to this programme. However, students who have appeared for NIFT and hold a rank can use their NIFT rank to avail a scholarship at Apex University - up to 50% on tuition fees for ranks within 2,000. So while NIFT rank does not guarantee a seat, it can significantly reduce your fee burden if you choose to join Apex University.
Ques. Is the B.Des Fashion Design programme at Apex University affiliated to any regulatory body, and is the degree recognised?
Ans. Yes, Apex University is a UGC-recognised private university established under the Rajasthan Private Universities Act. The B.Des Fashion Design degree awarded by Apex University is a valid undergraduate degree recognised by UGC and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The university is also a member of AIU, which ensures the degree is accepted for higher education and employment purposes across India and internationally.
Ques. What is the actual fee I need to pay in the first semester to secure my admission at Apex University for B.Des Fashion Design?
Ans. At the time of admission, you need to pay the Application Form Fee of Rs. 1,000 (non-refundable) and the Registration Fee of Rs. 10,000 (non-refundable) to confirm your seat. The first semester tuition fee of Rs. 62,500 is then payable at the start of the semester. Under the Apex Easy Pay scheme, the annual fee of Rs. 1,25,000 can be paid in two equal instalments of Rs. 62,500 each - one at the start of each semester. So the total outgo in the first semester (including registration) is approximately Rs. 72,500 before any scholarship deductions.
Ques. What kind of practical exposure does the B.Des Fashion Design programme offer? Are there internships or live projects?
Ans. The programme is heavily studio-oriented from the very first semester. Students work on live fashion projects, participate in runway shows and fashion exhibitions organised by the university, and engage in industry collaborations throughout the course. The 4th year is entirely dedicated to a Special Research Project and a Special Industry Project, which typically involves working with a fashion brand or design house. Students also get opportunities to participate in international workshops and exchange programmes with global institutions. The curriculum includes fashion styling, jewellery design, footwear design, and professional makeover as elective modules, giving students a well-rounded industry-ready profile.
Ques. Can students from Science or Commerce background apply for B.Des Fashion Design at Apex University?
Ans. Yes, absolutely. The eligibility for B.Des Fashion Design at Apex University requires only that the candidate has passed 10+2 from any recognised board in any stream - Science, Commerce, or Arts - with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). There is no mandatory subject requirement at the 10+2 level. This makes the programme accessible to students from all academic backgrounds who have a passion for fashion and design.
Ques. What are the hostel facilities like, and is it mandatory to stay in the hostel?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at Apex University is completely optional and not mandatory for B.Des Fashion Design students. The university provides separate hostel blocks for boys and girls on campus, with non-AC rooms available at Rs. 15,000 per semester (Rs. 30,000 per year) for room charges, excluding food/mess costs. Rooms are available in double or triple sharing with basic furniture (bed, table, chair, wardrobe) and 24-hour Wi-Fi. The campus is ragging-free with strict security. Students who prefer to stay off-campus can find PG accommodations near the Mansarovar campus, though these tend to be more expensive than the university hostel.
