CSMU L.L.B. FAQs
Ques. Is CLAT mandatory for L.L.B. admission at CSMU, or can I apply directly based on graduation marks?
Ans. CLAT is not mandatory for L.L.B. admission at CSMU. The university accepts admissions through three routes: CLAT score, CSMUCET (the university's own entrance test), or direct merit based on qualifying graduation marks. If you have a valid CLAT score, you can submit it during the application process. If you haven't appeared in CLAT, you can still apply and be considered based on your graduation percentage. This makes CSMU accessible to students who may not have prepared for CLAT specifically.
Ques. What is the total cost of doing L.L.B. at CSMU including all charges?
Ans. The total programme fee for L.L.B. at CSMU for 2026-27 is Rs. 3,75,000 over 3 years (Rs. 1,25,000 per year). In addition, there is a one-time non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 15,000 and an application fee of Rs. 1,500. Examination fees are charged separately at Rs. 1,000 per exam. If you opt for hostel accommodation, it costs an additional Rs. 92,000 to Rs. 1,40,000 per year depending on room type, with mess charges billed separately. So the total cost including hostel (triple non-AC) over 3 years would be approximately Rs. 6,67,500.
Ques. Is the L.L.B. degree from CSMU recognised by the Bar Council of India? Can I enrol as an advocate after completing it?
Ans. Yes, CSMU's L.L.B. programme is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), which is the statutory body that regulates legal education in India. After completing the 3-year L.L.B. from CSMU, you are eligible to enrol with the State Bar Council (Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council) and practice as an advocate. You will also need to clear the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) conducted by BCI to obtain a Certificate of Practice.
Ques. What is the difference between the 3-year L.L.B. and the 5-year BA LLB/BBA LLB at CSMU? Which should I choose?
Ans. The 3-year L.L.B. is a postgraduate law programme meant for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree in any discipline. The 5-year integrated BA LLB (Hons.) and BBA LLB are undergraduate programmes for students who have just completed Class 12. If you are a fresh 12th pass student, the 5-year integrated programme is the right choice as it combines a bachelor's degree with law. If you already hold a graduation degree and want to pursue law, the 3-year L.L.B. is the appropriate route. The 5-year programmes at CSMU are priced at Rs. 95,000 per year, while the 3-year L.L.B. is Rs. 1,25,000 per year.
Ques. What career opportunities are available after completing L.L.B. from CSMU?
Ans. After completing L.L.B. from CSMU, graduates can pursue careers as advocates in district courts, high courts, or the Supreme Court; join corporate legal departments as in-house counsel; appear for judicial services examinations (Maharashtra Judicial Service); work with law firms, NGOs, or government legal departments; or pursue higher studies like L.L.M. (also offered at CSMU at Rs. 80,000/year). The Navi Mumbai location is advantageous given the proximity to Mumbai's commercial and legal hub, offering networking and internship opportunities with law firms and corporate offices.
Ques. Does CSMU provide moot court and practical training facilities for L.L.B. students?
Ans. CSMU's School of Law provides practical legal training through moot court exercises, legal aid clinics, and internship programmes as part of the curriculum, which is mandated by the Bar Council of India for all law schools. Students are required to complete internships with courts, law firms, or legal aid organisations as part of their programme. The university's Panvel campus has a dedicated moot court hall. Being a newer university (established 2019), the alumni network in the legal profession is still growing, but the faculty includes practicing lawyers and legal academics who bring real-world exposure to the classroom.
