CSMU BCA FAQs
Ques. Is BCA at CSMU a full-time on-campus programme, or can I study it in distance/online mode?
Ans. BCA at CSMU (course ID 5105) is strictly a full-time, on-campus programme at the Panvel, Navi Mumbai campus. Students are required to attend classes physically on a regular basis. CSMU does not offer BCA in distance or online mode. The university mandates a minimum of 75% attendance in all classes to be eligible to appear in examinations and to avail scholarships. If you are looking for a distance or online BCA, you would need to explore other institutions.
Ques. What is the difference between the standard BCA and the specialised BCA variants like BCA (AI & ML) or BCA (Data Science) at CSMU?
Ans. The standard BCA (course ID 5105) is a general computer applications programme covering core subjects like programming, DBMS, networking, web development, and software engineering. The specialised variants such as BCA (AI & ML), BCA (Data Science), BCA (Cloud Computing), BCA (UIX), BCA (Cyber Security), BCA (AR/VR), and BCA (Mobile Application Development) include additional industry-focused modules in their respective domains, often in partnership with industry players. The specialised variants carry a higher fee - for example, BCA (AI & ML / Data Science) costs INR 1,30,000 per year vs INR 1,00,000 per year for the standard BCA. The core eligibility and admission process are the same for all BCA variants.
Ques. Does CSMU accept MHT-CET scores for BCA admission, or is CUET-UG mandatory?
Ans. CSMU primarily accepts CUET-UG (General Test) scores for BCA admission. The university is listed as a CUET-participating institution on the NTA CUET portal. However, CSMU also considers direct merit-based admission (based on Class 12 marks) for seats that remain vacant after the CUET merit list process. MHT-CET is not a listed entrance exam for BCA at CSMU. Candidates who have not appeared in CUET-UG can still apply directly through the university's online portal and may be considered on merit.
Ques. I scored 92% in Class 12. How much scholarship will I get, and when will it be credited?
Ans. With 92% in Class 12, you are eligible for the Merit Scholarship at 25% of the programme fee. For the standard BCA (INR 1,00,000 per year), this translates to INR 25,000 per year as a fee concession. However, the scholarship is not deducted at the time of admission - you must pay the full fee first (at least 50% at admission, balance as per schedule), and the scholarship amount is adjusted/refunded as a concession at the end of the academic year, after verification of your attendance (minimum 75%) and submission of required documents. You must apply for the scholarship on the prescribed form by the date announced by the university.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for BCA students at CSMU?
Ans. CSMU has on-campus hostel facilities at Panvel, Navi Mumbai, but accommodation is subject to availability and is not guaranteed. The hostel fee ranges from INR 85,000 to INR 1,25,000 per year depending on the type of room (triple/double, AC/non-AC). Mess charges are separate and are set by the hostel management through a tender process. Students interested in hostel accommodation should apply early and confirm availability directly with the university's hostel administration. Hostel is entirely optional and not mandatory for BCA students.
Ques. After completing BCA from CSMU, can I directly apply for MCA, and does CSMU offer MCA as well?
Ans. Yes, CSMU offers MCA (Master of Computer Applications) as a 2-year full-time programme at a fee of INR 1,00,000 per year (INR 2,00,000 total). BCA graduates are eligible to apply for MCA. Admission to MCA at CSMU is through CUET-PG scores or merit. Additionally, CSMU also offers specialised MCA variants such as MCA (Cyber Security) and MCA (AI & ML). Completing BCA from CSMU gives you an advantage as a CSMU alumnus, and you may also be eligible for the alumni scholarship (25% fee concession, up to INR 30,000) if you pursue MCA at CSMU.
