English and Foreign Language University (EFLU), Lucknow was established in 1979 to provide training to university/college teachers of English in northern India but later it evolved into a full-fledged campus Centre offering Bachelor, Master, Doctoral and PG Diploma courses in the domain of teaching of English.
To be eligible for the UG program, the candidates must possess a 10+2 qualification, to be eligible for M.A. in English, the candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 55% marks.
The campus also runs Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses in four foreign languages namely French, German, Spanish and Russian. EFLU, Lucknow is best known for giving training in communication skills, conducting special teacher training for teachers and conducting workshops on grammar.
Admission in various courses is given on the basis of score in university conducted entrance test followed by counselling. To apply for admission, the candidates can register by filling in the online application form. The registration forms can also be submitted through offline mode.
The college has been ranked 21 in India Today's survey of 'All India Ranking of Government Universities - 2018.

English Literature

Selection Criteria
Qualified candidates of the university conducted entrance exam will get admission in Ph.D. course by the personal interview round.
How to Apply at ELFU Lucknow?
- Applicants must visit the University website and click on the registration link on the University's homepage. Candidates can also download the prospectus from the university website.
- Candidates will have to fill up the application form and submit relevant documents along with application fee of INR. 500/- for general candidates and INR. 250/- for SC/ST. They must also provide a caste certificate if not from the general category.
- After providing all details, a user id and password will be sent to the candidate’s registered ID. Candidates must take the printout of the application after final submission of it.
- Candidates who have registered successfully and have the eligibility must appear for the computer based entrance examination held across India.
- The University will release admission lists on its website for candidates who manage to acquire the required minimum cut off. These candidates will be called for the EFLU 2024 counselling. The counselling process of EFLU 2024 will take place in the University Campus. It must be noted that the candidates are suggested to carry all the required official documents to the EFLU counselling 2024.
- Candidates will have to lock in their choice and the campus, pay the fees and secure a seat in the college.

ELFU Lucknow Scholarship Schemes
The college offers the following scholarships:
Merit –cum-Means Fellowship, Exemption of Tuition Fee and Book Allowance
Scholarship of INR 1000/- per month for eligible students will be paid twice a year during December and June after the results of the respective semesters are declared. This scholarship is availed by students pursuing B.A. and M.A. programs.
