NICMAR Hyderabad is a Construction Management & research center and a non-profit management institute that offers education in the field of management and construction engineering. The institute was founded in 1983 by the joint efforts of the major construction companies in India. Candidates who wish to apply to NICMAR need to clear the PG-NCAT entrance exam, group discussion, personal interview and rating of application conducted by NICMAR for admission to its several PG courses. Note: Typically, the total living expenses including hostel, mess and any other expenses at Pune/ Hyderabad (Shamirpet)/Goa (Farmagudi)/Delhi NCR (Bahadurgarh) are approximately Rs. 12,000/-to Rs. 14,000/-per month.

NICMAR Hyderabad Admission Process 2024

The selection of students is made by the selection committee. Admissions are administered centrally from Pune campus.

Those interested in admission to the various programmes may apply online, pay fees and upload documents through the website: www.nicmar.ac.in or direct link: http://admission.nicmar.ac.in or download the application form from website and send duly filled application form to the Dean-Admissions, NICMAR, 25/1, Balewadi, N.I.A. Post Office, Pune - 411045, along with the application fee and required documents as mentioned in the application form within the specified date.
All specified documents must be submitted. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications are scrutinised and eligibility is established on the basis of documents submitted.
Eligible candidates will be invited to appear for the selection procedure, which comprises of NCAT (or, other entrance examinations as specified below), Personal Interview (PI) and Rating of Application (RA).

The details are as follows: The RA is calculated on the basis of weighted scores of the cumulative academic performance along with work experience (wherever applicable) obtained from the documents submitted to NICMAR by the candidates. NCAT Test

Selection of candidates is done on the basis of merit. The merit list is drawn on the basis of performance in NCAT/CAT/GATE/GMAT/CMAT, PI and RA. Admission offer letters are issued in the order of merit. Candidate's preference of programme/campus will be considered, but the allotment will be done at the sole discretion of the admission department, NICMAR.

NICMAR Hyderabad Placements

Placements

Over a period of last two decades, campus recruitment at NICMAR Hyderabad has always been a very satisfying experience for both students and recruiters. This has built a strong bond and established relationship between NICMAR Hyderabad and the CRIP(Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Project) industry. NICMAR Hyderabad is proud of its excellent placement record including the overseas placements. NICMAR Hyderabad Placements Jobs offered by 175 companies have been accepted by the students in all four campuses together in the full time residential programmes. The updates are provided in the following bar graph.

On an average, around 10-15% of the students secure overseas placements. NICMAR Hyderabad has achieved full final placement for all the programmes listed above. The Top International package offered was INR 22.08 LPA. Overall per student average compensation package INR 9.14 lakhs per annum, so far. In addition significant number of companies include allowances / accommodation / site allowances / reimbursements / variable pay / transportation in their offers. The value of these perquisites is not included in the average compensation package calculation.

Scholarships
NICMAR Top Ranker’s Scholarship	Five students securing highest marks in the ‘NICMAR Common Admissions Test’ and other selection criteria of admission process and join NICMAR will be awarded scholarships. The scholarship will consist of full admission fee, tuition fee, hostel and boarding charges waiver for the entire duration of the programme. I just realized how much I already miss the Nicmar Hostel as I was writing this response. As this was my first experience staying in a hostel, I first had a love-hate connection with it, but all I can say is that the friends are one of the nicest aspects of this particular hostel.

The NICMAR hostel gives you the impression of being in a smaller version of India because you may meet people from all over the country and eat food there.

Although not amazing, the food is nonetheless decent. The rooms are fine, but leaving college will make you feel horrible. Lastly, I would say that joining NICMAR is a unique experience that you won't regret. I hope you enjoy your time in Nicmar.

Should I join PGP-ACM NICMAR, Hyderabad, as a fresher?

The answer to your question is based on the opportunity cost of the different opportunities you already have. Finding a suitable job as a new employee is typically very tough in the construction sector. Even if you want to work for free on a construction site, there are several challenges. The businesses would add you to their payroll, which would make for an excellent learning atmosphere but not a great career one. Therefore, I would suggest joining NICMAR if you're having problems obtaining a job that's decent.

However, if you have a job, I suggest you continue with your job and gather the learnings and later pursue a PGP in management from a better institution.

Yes, you can join NICMAR without work experience. Having work experience isn’t mandatory. But having work experience will help you grasp the concepts better. More than 30% of students in NICMAR Pune have work experience of above 12 months.

But being a fresher won’t be much of a problem. You can learn through visualization. You will also get help from your peers.

Which one should I go for, NICMAR or an MS in the US?

It’s better to do an MS from US as you will get better exposure compared to NICMAR. Their practical approach to studies like labs and internships will help you a lot in your career. You will get better career options after completing an MS in the US. Since the degree is valid all across the US as well as the world. You don’t need to give any other qualifying examination for working anywhere. The yearly salary for MS degree holders in the USA is around $73,900 ( ~INR 54,31,413).

While NICMAR is well-known for management studies in the field of Civil Engineering. But they offer MBA rather than M.Tech or ME degrees. Also, NICMAR is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research organization by the Govt. of India. None of the degrees offered by the institute is AICTE approved.

I have a few friends from NICMAR. Here is their insight on how to do well in NCAT (NICMAR Admission Test).

For the written examination consult R.S Agarwal books. Learn the basics. You can also read other aptitude books as well.
Try to give a few mock tests. It will help you figure out the right strategy for attempting different sections during the test.
Stay updated with current affairs. It will help you during GD too.
Try not to leave any questions in the written examination, since there is no negative marking.
Work on your communication skills. The faculty will mostly judge you based on your performance in GD and PI sections.

The difficulty level of the exam is not that hard. Try to perform well in the personal interview as your selection will mostly depend on that.

NICMAR Goa or NICMAR Hyderabad: which is better?

I have a few friends from NICMAR and according to their opinion, you should choose the degree that interests you irrespective of campus.

NICMAR Goa only offers PGP in Advanced Construction Management (ACM). While NICMAR Hyderabad offers PGP in Advanced Construction Management (ACM), Project Engineering Management (PEM), Health, Safety & Environmental Management (HSEM), and Quality Surveying & Contract Management (QSCM).

If you want to pursue ACM, you can choose either Goa or Hyderabad. NICMAR Pune also offers an ACM course. However, after Pune, Hyderabad is better for ACM.

However, irrespective of which campus you choose, you will be allowed to sit for placement rounds. Placements are organized by the Pune campus.

It would be highly suggested to go with GATE only if you are getting into top IITs and NITs as it will make an impact on future references.

Apart from this, if your interest area is in Civil engineering but in a different domain, then go for NICMAR as it will open the option for accounting, marketing, business development, contracts, planning, valuation, execution, etc. By doing so, you might as well end up as a successful corporate or entrepreneur.

MBA students can take admitted in MBA without entrance Exams such as CAT. Although all the IIMs depend on CAT for admission, various colleges have taken other routes for their MBA Admission.There are a few top B-schools too which offer Direct MBA admissions without CAT. Many private institutes also provide direct admissions in the MBA courses based on their different university entrance exams and Personal Interviews or on the basis of the candidate's score in the previous qualifying exam.
