Amity Mumbai Ph.D. (Physics) PT Admission 2026

Admissions to the Ph.D. (Physics) - Part Time program at Amity University, Mumbai are conducted twice a year for January and July sessions. The selection process comprises an Amity PhD Entrance Test (APET) followed by an Interview by the Faculty Research Committee (FRC). Candidates who have cleared national-level exams such as CSIR-NET, UGC-NET, GATE, DST-INSPIRE, or DBT-JRF in the relevant field are exempted from APET and need to appear only for the Interview. The July 2026 session is upcoming; based on last year's pattern, applications are expected to open around April 2026.

Relevant Exam Dates for Ph.D. (Physics) Admission

GATE (Physics paper) and CSIR-NET (Physical Sciences) qualified candidates are exempt from APET. Candidates must submit a valid score/result certificate along with the application form or via email, not later than two days prior to their PET date.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Candidates must hold a Master's Degree in Physics / Material Sciences or a related field from a recognized Indian or foreign university with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
• Alternatively, a four-year Bachelor's Degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent CGPA is also accepted (direct admission in Full Time mode only for this category).
• SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/EWS candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks requirement as per UGC Regulations 2022.

Admission Process:

• Fill and submit the online application form at www.amity.edu/phd (no hard copies accepted); pay the application fee of Rs. 1,500 online.
• Upload required documents: passport-size photograph, Class X marksheet, PG marksheet, Preliminary Research Idea (max 1,000 words), and Employment Verification Certificate (mandatory for Part Time applicants).
• Submit NOC from employer (as per Amity's prescribed format) at the time of joining after selection.
• Appear in APET (90-minute, 100 MCQs, no negative marking) - Section 1: General Aptitude (50 marks), Section 2: Physics-specific (50 marks). Candidates with valid CSIR-NET/GATE/DST-INSPIRE/DBT-JRF scores in the relevant field are exempt from APET.
• Qualified/exempted candidates appear before the Faculty Research Committee (FRC) for an Interview (30 marks).
• Check selection status on the Admission Microsite; download and print the admission letter from the microsite.
• Pay fees and complete registration/orientation formalities.

Amity Mumbai Ph.D. (Physics) PT Scholarships 2026

Amity University provides financial support to Ph.D. scholars through the Amity Research Fellowship (ARF) and various fee concessions. It is important to note that the Amity Research Fellowship is exclusively available to Full Time PhD scholars and is not applicable to Part Time candidates. Part Time PhD scholars may, however, be eligible for fee concessions based on their employment category, such as Amity staff, JRF/SRF/RA holders, national fellowship holders, or scholars working in labs with Amity MoUs.

Scholarship Details

• Part Time PhD scholars are NOT eligible for the Amity Research Fellowship (ARF).
• Fee concessions are subject to University approval and applicable policies at the time of admission.

• External fellowships such as CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, DBT-JRF, etc. can be availed independently by scholars who qualify through national-level exams.
