Amity Mumbai Ph.D. JMC Admission 2026
Amity University Mumbai conducts Ph.D. admissions twice a year - for January and July sessions. The January 2026 session admissions are now closed. The July 2026 session is the upcoming admission cycle, with applications expected to open around April-May 2026. Candidates must apply online through the official PhD portal at www.amity.edu/phd. Shortlisted candidates appear in the Amity PhD Entrance Test (APET) followed by an interview; those with valid UGC-NET/GATE scores are exempted from APET.

Note: UGC-NET is accepted for APET exemption. Candidates with a valid UGC-NET score in Mass Communication / Journalism need to appear only for the interview round at Amity.

Eligibility Criteria
- Master's degree from a recognised Indian or foreign university in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a relevant field with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- Alternatively, a four-year Bachelor's degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent CGPA (direct admission in this case is in Full Time mode only).
- A relaxation of 5% marks is applicable for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/EWS candidates as per UGC regulations 2022.
- Working candidates must submit employment verification details at the time of form filling and an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from their employer at the time of joining.
Admission Process
- Fill and submit the online application form at www.amity.edu/phd along with required documents and an application fee of Rs. 1,500.
- Upload all required documents in the specified format (including employment proof and NOC for part-time applicants).
- Shortlisted candidates will be notified on the Admission Microsite to select a date for APET (or interview only, if APET-exempted).
- Appear in APET (90-minute test, 100 MCQs - 50 general research aptitude + 50 subject-specific) followed by an interview by the Faculty Research Committee (FRC).
- Candidates with valid UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/GATE scores in the relevant field are exempted from APET and appear for the interview only.
- Selection results are communicated on the Admission Microsite; selected candidates receive an online admission letter within two days of selection.
- Pay fees and complete registration/orientation formalities as per the admission letter.
