Amity Mumbai PhD IT Admission 2026
Amity University Mumbai conducts Ph.D. admissions twice a year for January and July sessions. For the Part Time Ph.D. in Information Technology, candidates must apply online, appear in the Amity PhD Entrance Test (APET) unless exempted via GATE/UGC-NET, and clear the Faculty Research Committee (FRC) interview. The January 2026 session application window for Mumbai campus closed on December 6, 2025. The next (July 2026) session is expected to open for applications around April-May 2026, with PET dates tentatively in May-June 2026.

Note: A valid GATE score in CS/IT or a valid UGC-NET (JRF/LS/PhD category) in the relevant field exempts candidates from APET. Only the FRC Interview is required for exempted candidates.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must hold an MCA or M.Sc./M.Tech. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant field with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized university.
- SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-Abled/EWS candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks requirement (i.e., 50% marks).
- Part Time PhD applicants must be employed and are required to submit an Employment Verification Certificate and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of joining.
Admission Process
- Register and fill the online application form at the Amity PhD portal (portal.amity.edu) and pay the application fee of Rs. 1,500 online.
- Upload all required documents: passport-size photograph, Class X marksheet, MCA/M.Sc./M.Tech. marksheets, preliminary research idea (up to 1,000 words), and Employment Verification Certificate (for Part Time applicants).
- Candidates with a valid GATE score in CS/IT or UGC-NET in the relevant field are exempted from APET; they must submit a scanned copy of the certificate.
- Appear in the Amity PhD Entrance Test (APET) - 90 minutes, 100 MCQs (50 marks General/Research Aptitude + 50 marks Subject-Specific Information Technology).
- Qualified/exempted candidates appear before the Faculty Research Committee (FRC) for an interview (30 marks).
- Selected candidates receive an admission letter on the Amity Admission Microsite; fee payment and joining formalities to be completed as per the schedule.
