TNDALU Course Admission 2025: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Application Process, Selection Criteria

The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU) was inaugurated by Thiru K.R. Narayanan, President of India on September 20th, 1997 which at present offers various degree courses in field the of law through seven affiliated colleges.

The university offers undergraduate, integrated, post-graduation, and Ph.D.-level law courses. For Ph.D., both full-time as well as part time course are available. Additionally, the University also offers distance education programmes in PG Diploma, Master of Corporate Laws (M.C.L.) and certificate course in documentation. Admission to the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University begins in June every year. Selection is done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualification examination. Admission to Ph.D. program is done on the basis of Entrance test followed by Interview.

The university offers a three years undergraduate in LL.B. (Hons.) with a total number of 120 seats. The university also runs a five year integrated course in LL.B. (Hons.). with BA, BBA, BCA and B.Com  which has 548 seats in total. Candidates for all the UG courses will be selected based on their marks in the qualifying examination. Application process starts generally in the month of June every year.

For admission in undergraduate course, the minimum marks required in the qualifying exam is 55% for SC/ ST/ NRI candidates and 60% for general candidates. For admission in integrated courses, the minimum marks in the qualifying exam required is 60% for SC/ ST candidates and 70% for general candidates.

Key Points:

• There is no age limit for admission in undergraduate graduates for both SC/ST and general candidates.
• There is no age limit for admission in the integrated courses for ST/SC but the general candidates need to be maximum 21 years as on 1st June.
• There is a concession of fees applicable for SC (O)/SC (A)/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu.
• 15% of seats in all the courses are reserved for the NRI candidates.
• 4% of seats in B.A.LL.B.[Hons.] and B.B.A.LL.B. [Hons.] have been allotted to the Higher Secondary Courses (+2) vocational stream candidates.
• The applicants who have completed 10+2 or graduation/post-graduation through Open University system directly without having any basic qualification are not eligible for UG admission.

The University runs two years post-graduation course LL.M. degree in nine different specialisations with an intake capacity of 20 per specialization.

Admission to the LL.M course in Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University is done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying exam. Application process generally starts in the month of June every year. Candidates who have successfully completed a three year / five year under-graduate degree course in Law with minimum of 45% marks under new regulation or 40% under old regulation are eligible to apply.

The University offers full time as well as part time course in Ph.D. The minimum duration of the Ph.D. full time programme is 2 years and the maximum period is 5 years. The minimum duration of the Ph.D. part time programme is 3 years and the maximum period is 6 years

For admission in part time course, the candidates who meet the eligibility should possess the following requirements:

• In the case of Judges, who have put in not less than 5 years of regular service as Judicial Officers and attended seminars and presented at least 2 Papers.
• In the case of teachers who have put in 1 year of full-time regular service in the University or in any of the affiliated Colleges of this University.
• In the case of lawyers and others, those who are working in the Research Institutions / Research Departments connected with Law, should have put in at least 5 years of professional experience and presented at least two papers in Seminars and Conferences.

Selection is done on the basis of Entrance test and Interview conducted by TNDALU.

Key Points:

• The persons who have completed their Master’s Degree prior to 1991 shall have at least a minimum of 50% marks in the Master’s Degree.
• 5% marks relaxation is applicable for SC/ST and Person with Disability [PWD].
• Candidate who have passed Company Secretary Examinations (ACS) or Passed Chartered Accountants examinations (ACA) or Passed Cost Accountant Examinations (ICWA) are also eligible for admission to Ph.D in interdisciplinary field.
• Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR (JRF) are exempted from the written test for Ph.D. admission.

The university also offers a distance course in Post Graduate Diploma with twelve different specialisations which is of one year and Master of Corporate Laws (M.C.L.) which two years. Selection will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Minimum eligbility for MCL and PG Diploma is candidate must pass in any Degree Course.
