KAHE B.Arch FAQs
Ques. Is NATA mandatory for B.Arch admission at KAHE, or can I apply with JEE Main Paper 2 alone?
Ans. Both NATA and JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch) scores are accepted for admission to B.Arch at KAHE. You can apply with either a valid NATA score or a JEE Main Paper 2 score. However, NATA is the primary entrance exam for architecture admissions in India and is conducted multiple times a year (every Friday and Saturday from March to June 2026), giving you more opportunities to improve your score.
Ques. What is the minimum NATA score required for admission to B.Arch at KAHE?
Ans. KAHE does not publicly specify a minimum NATA cutoff score. Admission is merit-based, combining NATA/JEE scores and 10+2 marks. Since the intake is 80 seats and KAHE is a private deemed university, the cutoff is generally accessible for students with a decent NATA score (typically 80+ out of 200). It is advisable to contact the admissions office for the current year's cutoff details.
Ques. Does KAHE B.Arch offer international exchange programmes? How can students apply?
Ans. Yes, KAHE has active international collaborations with universities in Italy (NABA Milan, ISAD Communicazone), Czech Republic (ARCHIP), Switzerland (SUMAS), and the USA (NSAD San Diego, SCI-ARC California). Students can participate in exchange programmes and international workshops. The Bon Voyage Scholarship provides financial support for students selected for these programmes. Students should contact the Office of International Affairs at KAHE for application details.
Ques. What are the career prospects after B.Arch from KAHE?
Ans. B.Arch graduates from KAHE can pursue careers as licensed architects (after completing the Council of Architecture registration), urban planners, interior designers, landscape architects, project managers, and architectural consultants. The department has reported 100% placement for its graduates. Students can also pursue higher studies like M.Arch, M.Plan, or specialised postgraduate programmes in India or abroad.
Ques. Is the hostel mandatory for B.Arch students at KAHE?
Ans. No, hostel accommodation is optional at KAHE. The hostel fee is Rs. 85,000/year for boys and Rs. 90,000/year for girls, with a one-time maintenance fee of Rs. 5,000. Students can also choose to stay in private PGs or rented accommodation near the campus in Coimbatore. The campus is located on Pollachi Main Road, Eachanari Post, Coimbatore, which is well-connected by public transport.
Ques. What is the difference between B.Arch and B.Des (Interior Design) at KAHE? Which is better?
Ans. B.Arch is a 5-year professional degree regulated by the Council of Architecture (COA), which qualifies graduates to practice as licensed architects. B.Des (Interior Design) is a 4-year design programme focused specifically on interior spaces. B.Arch has a broader scope covering building design, urban planning, and construction, while B.Des ID is more focused on interior aesthetics and space planning. If you want to become a licensed architect and work on building design projects, B.Arch is the right choice. If your interest is specifically in interior design, B.Des ID is more focused and shorter in duration.
