To be eligible for B.Ed admission at Annamalai University, candidates must fulfil the following requirements:
- Annamalai University does not specify any age limit for B.Ed. admission.
- Applicants should hold a recognized qualification under either 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern of study. Candidates who have pursued a 4-year Engineering & Technology degree should have studied in the 10+2+4 pattern.
- Candidates who have pursued their qualifying degree in the Open University System should have completed their senior secondary in the 10+2 format only.
- Candidates who hold a UG degree with more than one major can pursue B.Ed. specialization in only one of the main subjects. However, the university will consider the marks of all the majors to meet the eligibility percentage of the qualifying degree.
- Candidates who have qualified 5-Year Integrated Degree Programs, are eligible to apply. Such a candidate’s five-year aggregate score will be considered for admission.
- Candidates wishing to specialize in Economics and Commerce are required to hold a PG degree in a relevant subject with a 50% aggregate score.

Annamalai University B.Ed Admission Criteria
Annamalai University shortlists B.Ed. applicants on the basis of their academic merit.
- A merit list is prepared considering the applicants’ marks in the qualifying examination.
- Thereafter, candidates are invited for a round of counseling in the order of rank in the merit list.
- Seat allotment is based on an individual candidate’s merit rank, considering the reservation policies of the university.
- Please note that for holders of a 5-year Integrated Degree in subjects other than Commerce and Economics, the aggregate score of the first three years will be considered for admission shortlisting. For candidates who opt for Economics or Commerce specialization, marks obtained in the final two years of their Integrated Degree will be taken into consideration by the University.
- Annamalai University also accords additional weightage (between 3 – 6 marks) for the purpose of ranking, considering factors such as highest qualification, and co-curricular activities.
- Counseling is held at the university campus. Shortlisted candidates are required to pay a non-refundable counseling fee of INR 2000 (INR 1000 for SC/ ST candidates) either by cash or DD in favor of “The Registrar, Annamalai University”, payable at Chennai at the time of counseling.

Ans. B.Ed. students at Annamalai University are marked with Grade Points, on both theory and practical courses. Students should secure at least 50% of the total marks, i.e. 100, in each theory paper taking together both internal assessment and external examination scores.
B.Ed. practical examination comprises three units and students are required to score a minimum of 50% in each unit to pass. Candidates that fail to score the pass percentage, are allowed another attempt at evaluation in front of the Board of Examiners

Ques. How long is the School Internship in the B.Ed. program at Annamalai University?
Ans. B.Ed. students at Annamalai University have to undergo School Internship in both the first and second years. The internship should be in government-recognized schools, under public or private ownership, located 50 km radius of the University campus.
The first-year internship is of 4-weeks with 1-week of school engagement and 3-weeks of field visits to various resource centers. The second-year internship is of the 16-week duration of which 15-weeks must be spent in actual classroom teaching.

Candidates applying to the Ph.D. programs should have to pass in Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) or in an examination recognized as equivalent to it.
