For admission in a full-time MCA program in the academic year 2023-24, a student must have completed his/her bachelor's degree (either BCA or B.Sc). The education format should be 10+2+3.
Prospective applicants should have B.Sc. in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Applied Sciences/ Computer Science/ Information Technology OR B.Sc. Degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Electronics with Mathematics as an ancillary subject OR BCA/ B.Com./ BBA/ B.E IT/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Communication/ Electrical with minimum of 60% marks.
There will be a relaxation of 5% marks for the students who belong to the reserved category.

For admission to the MCA course in the academic year 2023-24, a student has to clear an entrance exam organized by the university.
The selection will be based on the 50% marks scored by the student in the entrance exam and 50% marks scored in the undergraduate level degree course. A candidate from a reserved category will get some relaxation here.

Program Structure

The duration of the MCA program is three years consisting of six semesters.
Each semester consists of a minimum of 75 working days with 6 working hours per day.
A student needs to take the semester exam of all the respective papers.
Semester exams are taken twice every single academic year in November and April. Each semester paper has a duration of 3 years.
The program follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

Credit Requirements

Each student should take 140 credits to complete the MCA programme.
Students may be allowed to take interdisciplinary courses in a semester offered by the other Departments as interdisciplinary courses with the advice of the course coordinator.
Each student has to register for at least 8 credits in the interdisciplinary courses during the programme.
The number of credits registered should not exceed 12 credits for the entire period of study.
The project work (one semester duration) is to be carried out in the VI Semester and the project report carries 15 credits.

Examinations

Each theory course carries 4 credits / 5 credits with 75 marks in the Semester (University Examination) and 25 marks in the Internal Assessment and each Lab (Practical) course carries 3 credits with 75 marks in the Semester examination and 25 marks in the Internal Assessment.
The passing minimum for each course in a semester is 45% in the external examinations and 50% in aggregate by combining external and internal.
