Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) is located at Kalady near Kochi, Kerala. It was established in the year 1993. There are total a of 9 regional centers of the varsity. SSUS offers multiple post-graduate programs at the Kalady centre. Students will be selected on the basis of merit. He/she must hold an undergraduate degree from a reputed university which is the minimum eligibility criteria to register and fill in the application forms.
Candidates fulfilling the eligibility for the various postgraduate programs offered by the SSUS are called upon to appear for an entrance examination which is conducted in the month of May for each academic session. The purpose of the entrance examination is to assess the candidate’s interest in the subject for which he/she has applied for. It is of maximum 100 marks and 2 hours in duration. The weightage assigned to the entrance examination for the selection process is 10%.
The admission to the MFA Program is done though an entrance examination, academic performance of the candidate followed by interview & portfolio presentation.
The mode of filling up the application form is online wherein applicants can fill in the application form through the university website. The university conducts entrance examinations for all its courses. After the declaration of results, the selected candidates are called for a round of personal interview.

SSUS PG Admission 2024: MA, M.Sc, MBA. MSW, MFA & M.P.Ed
SSUS offers various PG courses such as M.Sc, MSW, M.P.Ed & MFA in various specializations. It is mandatory for the candidate to hold a Bachelor’s degree to be eligible for such courses.
MA M.A. Malayalam, Hindi, English Language & Literature, Sanskrit Sahitya, Sanskrit Vedanta, Sanskrit Vyakarana, Sanskrit Nyaya, Sanskrit General and Comparative Literature & Linguistics have an intake of 20 students each.
SSUS conducts an entrance examination in the month of May for admission to the post graduate courses offered at the Kallady center.
Additionally, those who are seeking admission to music programs, should appear in the practical examination that is conducted to check their musical skills. He/she must be eligible to perform one Ata thala Varnam in a speed of two degrees and a short raga alapana for Raga as prescribed in the syllabus of BA Music degree course offered by the SSUS.
For admission to MA Theatre and MA Dance (Bharathanatyam and Mohiniyattom), the university conducts an aptitude and practical test for admission.
Those who are have appeared in all the subjects of the final degree examination but are waiting for the final results are also eligible to appear. It is mandatory for them to provide a copy of the provisional degree certificate.

He/she must appear and qualify the Entrance Examination /interview which is conducted by the university. He/she should have hold a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.E) degree from any reputed university as recognized by Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit OR He/she should have passed a Post Graduate Degree in Physical Education with one year of experience of an Indian or Foreign University or Board appointed by the Education department of the State or Union territory recognized by this University, with an average minimum 50% marks. |

If a candidate is already pursuing a post graduate program from any other university in another subject, he/she is not eligible to apply for admission in SSUS.
SSUS Application Process 2024
- Candidates can download the application form by visiting the official website of the SSUS.
- Fill the application form with required details & pay the application fee through DD.
- After this, he/she must send the application form along with the Xerox copies of the required documents to the Heads of concerned Departments for respective courses on or before May 02.
Applicants are required to provide Transfer Certificate, Conduct Certificate; Mark lists, Eligibility Certificate (for all courses other than regular courses offered by Universities in Kerala and courses from outside Kerala) and other important documents during the personal interview round.
SSUS Admission Key Points:
- If a candidate is finally selected for admission to a course, he/she must submit the final year grade cards or provisional degree certificate on or before August 31. This provision is meant only for those who have appeared or appearing in the degree examination.
- A student who has completed post-graduation in a regular program is not eligible to apply for a second post graduate program at the SSUS although he/she can enroll for professional courses.
- The applicant must carry the hall ticket during the entrance examination. On the hall ticket, he/she must attach a photograph attested by a Gazetted officer. It is mandatory to produce the hall ticket for the purpose of verification.

SSUS Reservation Details 2024
SSUS follows reservation as per the guidelines issued by the government. There is a reservation of seats for the categories of SC/ST/OBC/OEC/SEBC /blind/differentially abled/ orphans/ sports/ NCC/ NSS/ Kalathilakam/ Kalaprathibha/ Ex-service men/ Kashmiri migrants/ descendants of Keralites from Andaman Nicobar Islands etc. Changes will be introduced to the number of reserved seats as per the instructions issued by the Government/University Orders.
To avail admission to a reserved seat, an applicant must have to produce all the required documents to prove that they are eligible for the procedure.
SSUS Scholarship Details 2024
- Candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories do not have to pay the tuition fee under the Tuition Fee Waiver scheme.
- They do not have to pay for the examination fee as well as per the grant of concession issued by the SC/ST department of Government of Kerala.
- They must have to pay the other fees according to the prescribed fee structure.
- It is also mandatory for them to submit the application form for concession of fee as mentioned in the form to avail the fee exemption immediately during admission.
- The university provides concessions under KPCR only to the eligible candidates.
- Those who claim fee exemption/concession must produce the required proof during admission.
