MG University Ph.D Development Studies: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. As per the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2022, UGC-NET qualification is mandatory for PhD admission at MGU for general category applicants. However, candidates who hold fellowship awards such as CSIR-JRF, KSCSTE-JRF, DBT-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, ICSSR, MANF, or RGNF are exempt from the NET requirement and can apply at any time if vacancies exist under a supervising teacher. There is no separate entrance test conducted by MGU for PhD admission; the NET score itself serves as the qualifying criterion.

Ans. Full-time PhD scholars are required to be present on campus and devote their full time to research. The minimum duration is 3 years for full-time scholars. The semester fee for part-time scholars (Rs. 6,085 per semester) is higher than for full-time scholars (Rs. 2,440 per semester).
