The course is designed to foster a supportive learning environment with strong faculty-student relationships. Evaluation includes yearly main exams and three internal exams, where students need at least 15 out of 30 marks to pass the internals and 35 out of 70 marks to pass the main exams. Failing the theory exam requires retaking both theory and practical exams. The program includes a six-year Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) course, with five years of study and a one-year internship at NIMS Hospital, Trivandrum.
Although the internship offers no stipend, it compensates with a fee reduction. Students engage in various activities like ADR monitoring and patient counseling during the internship. The annual tuition fee is Rs. 202,000, with an additional exam fee of Rs. 1,035 per subject. A national scholarship of Rs. 25,000 is available annually for reserved category students. Job opportunities in India are limited, but international prospects are diverse after two years of local experience, including roles such as clinical pharmacist and research analyst.
The tuition fee is the same for all students, irrespective of category.
