Ans. The BAMS internship at KLE Shri BM Kankanawadi Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya is a compulsory 1-year rotating internship conducted at the attached NABH-accredited teaching hospital in Shahapur, Belagavi. Interns rotate through Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Shalya, Shalakya, Prasuti, Balaroga, and community health. Internship stipends during the rotation period are typically in the range of INR 5,000 to INR 30,000 per month depending on the department.

Ans. BAMS graduates are licensed to practice Ayurvedic medicine and minor surgical procedures under the purview of the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM). In Karnataka and some other states, BAMS doctors are permitted to practice modern pharmacology in rural and urban settings under AYUSH government guidelines. However, BAMS is not equivalent to MBBS and full allopathic practice rights are not granted to BAMS graduates under current NMC regulations.

Ans. KLE University, through KAHER, offers MD Ayurveda (PG) in select specialisations at its Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya. Admission to MD Ayurveda is through NEET PG and AIAPGET (All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test). BAMS graduates must appear in AIAPGET for admission to PG Ayurveda programmes. Ans. BAMS graduates from KLE are eligible for recruitment as AYUSH Medical Officers in Karnataka PSC exams, National Health Mission AYUSH posts, and ESIC AYUSH recruitment. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) also recruits AYUSH Medical Officers for central government hospitals and CGHS. BAMS holders can also join the Indian Army Medical Corps under the Short Service Commission for AYUSH officers, which is a competitive but accessible route for graduates with strong NEET and academic credentials.
