Christ University PGDIE FAQs
Ques. How is the PGDIE different from a regular M.Ed. at Christ University?
Ans. The PGDIE is a one-year blended-mode programme for in-service teachers while the M.Ed. is a full-time two-year degree with broader academic scope. The PGDIE also leads to dual qualification: a postgraduate diploma alongside the globally recognised IB Educator Certificate. It suits working teachers who cannot commit to full-time campus attendance.
Ques. Is the PGDIE recognised for government school teaching positions in India?
Ans. The PGDIE primarily equips teachers with IB methodology and pedagogy skills suited for private and international schools. Government school recruitment in India typically mandates specific degrees such as B.Ed. or M.Ed. as notified by respective state governments. Candidates should verify eligibility with their state education board before enrolling.
Ques. Can a candidate without an active teaching job apply for the PGDIE?
Ans. No. The programme is exclusively for in-service teachers. Eligible candidates must either hold a B.Ed. degree alongside a Bachelor’s degree at 50% or have at least 3 years of active teaching experience at the primary or secondary level. Fresh graduates without a current teaching assignment are not eligible.
Ques. How many campus days are required each month for PGDIE students?
Ans. The PGDIE runs on a blended model combining online lectures with scheduled in-person workshop sessions at the Bangalore Central Campus. The programme is designed to accommodate full-time working professionals. Specific workshop schedules including frequency and duration of campus sessions are communicated by the School of Education after admission is confirmed.
Ques. What is the fee payment policy after receiving a PGDIE selection offer?
Ans. Selected candidates must pay the applicable fees within 5 working days of result declaration. The registration fee of INR 8,000 is non-refundable. An installment facility is available for fees above INR 10,000. Bank loan assistance is also available and the Office of Admissions can issue a recommendation letter for loan applications.
Ques. Are PGDIE students eligible for scholarships from Christ University?
Ans. Yes. The Merit Scholarship provides up to 10% fee concession for programmes with fees above INR 25,000 based on pre-entry and semester performance. Financial assistance of up to 50% is available for economically disadvantaged students with a valid income certificate. Applications must be submitted to the Head of Department in the prescribed format.
