Amrita school of engineering review

Likes

Academic structure followed and the practical lab execution
College atmosphere and bond between student and teachers

Dislikes

Some strict rules that are unnecessary for the students
Hostel food menu is same for the whole 4 years

Hostel Facilities:

There will be 3 blocks for boys, two for juniors with 3 floors in each block with shuttle court in the middle. And a block named mathura where students from 2nd year-4th year will be staying and ground floor of this block is mess. Drinking water will be available in every floor of the block. And Canteen is also available in the ground floor.

An overall detailed and comprehensive assessment of college and related facilities

Likes

Getting to meet students and professors from various diverse places of the country and getting more social exposure. Making some really good friends and bonds with people over the 4 year duration. So many people of similar interests to interact with.
The eagerness of the college to conduct CIR(Corporate Industry Relations)classes as mandatory from 3rd semester onwards. Classes split into 3 as Verbal, Aptitude and Software Skills. We even had mock interviews in 3rd year for placement preparation.

Dislikes

The overall quality of curriculum. Traditional, orthodox methods of teaching using theory oriented ppts and professors repeating points off the these. Less emphasis on real world applications and practical work with even written lab exams at times
The excessively conservative and religious mindset of the institution. They believe it's a crime for boys and girls to interact freely in public spaces. This also applies to dress codes for girls,they aren't supposed to wear anything "too revealing"

Hostel Facilities:

Hostel facilities(excluding food) to be frank are terrible. The room has 2 bunker beds to be shared by 4 people. Just 2 tables to be shared by 2 people each and 4 chairs. A balcony attached. Extremely small room size after the luggage and furniture. Washrooms are also pretty bad with hardly any hot water facilities and western type toilets. And a huge rush too during mornings. Meal quality was surprisingly decent, especially the lunch where we got proper meals including Rice,Sambhar,Papd and different vegetables, curries. Breakfast was also kind of fine only Idli, Dosa, Bread Butter Jam..etc . But I just say dinner was really bad with just the menu changing for curries and same gravy repeating every day of the week. Hostel registration process was straightforward,just paying fee. Too much restrictions to go out,only 2 hours per day outing and 4 outings per month with gate pass and lot of strict procedures. Hence moved out to a PG in nearby Owners Court West Layout. Much much better.

Amrita banglore a new home

Likes

It's an open campus so no need to get outpasses and all for basic needs itself you can go out and come back anytime by 9 pm
Mess food is far better when compared to any other colleges even after having such a huge strength of students

Dislikes

College is a bit strict , asking for id cards everytime
It feels like a school if you are a couple and want to hang out in the campus

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel i got alloted is a 10 floor hostel . We have common washrooms here but they are also well maintained . We have specific area for clothes washing. My room is on 10 th floor so view from balcony is amazing and the breeze passing through is a greats experience. Hostel food is also nice when compared to any other colleges hostels . We get 2 out passes in a month but we can go out anytime in day time before 9 pm without pass .

Traditional and Strict rules

Likes

I liked the campus culture and rules which was too formal and traditional
I like the way of teaching in all faculties they are well qualified

Dislikes

They don't allow online food deliveries inside hostel
only packaged foods that is also upto 8 o' clock only

Hostel Facilities:

Facilites are nice. We have chairs and tables and 4-shared and 2-shared rooms with same spacios rooms.Hostel food was good in my point of view compared to other hostels at bagnlore in my opinion. Registration for hostel was available on amrita official website and it is so affordable for banglore. I have been living in hostel from 2nd semester
