The placement process at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMS) offers diverse opportunities, with top companies like ABP News, CNNIBN, Genesis, Edelweiss, TATA, and HT recruiting students. The highest package offered was 20 lakhs by Sony Entertainment, while the average package ranged between 2-5 lakhs. The placement rate was approximately 75%, with most students securing jobs by the end of the academic year. Internship completion is a prerequisite for placement eligibility, though internships are typically unpaid.
During the placement drive, which occurs in February and lasts for a fortnight, companies such as TOI, ABP News, Economic Times, All India Radio, and PTI visit the campus. Despite these opportunities, the placement system is not fully robust, as only four to five companies visit regularly, selecting a limited number of students with initial packages often being modest.
