Ques. What is the scope of M.A. Anthropology and what career options are available?
Ans. M.A. Anthropology graduates can work in research institutions, universities, museums, cultural organizations, NGOs, and government departments. Career options include academic research, museum curation, cultural heritage management, development work with tribal communities, and international organizations. Many pursue PhD programmes or work in UNESCO and similar international bodies.
Ques. What is the difference between socio-cultural anthropology and physical anthropology?
Ans. Socio-cultural anthropology focuses on human societies, cultures, traditions, and social structures, while physical anthropology studies human biological variation, evolution, and primatology. The M.A. programme covers both branches, providing a comprehensive understanding of human diversity from cultural and biological perspectives.
Ques. Are there field work opportunities during the course?
Ans. Yes, the M.A. Anthropology programme includes extensive field work, particularly in tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast India. Students conduct ethnographic research, participate in surveys, and gain hands-on experience in data collection and analysis. Ques. What is the admission process and how competitive is it?
Ans. Admission is through CUET PG 2026 (20% seats) or RGUCET 2026 (80% seats). The process is merit-based with 42 seats available. Candidates are selected based on merit in the entrance exam, with additional weightage for bonafide RGU affiliated college students (10%) and APST candidates (5%). Document verification and counselling are mandatory for selected candidates.

Ans. RGU provides hostel accommodation on a merit-based allocation system. Two types of hostels are available: Regular hostels and HEFA hostels with different monthly fees. Hostel admission is limited and subject to availability. Students must apply for hostel accommodation during the admission process. Exact hostel fees are notified separately by the university administration.
