SU Ph.D EEE Admission 2026

Silicon University conducts Ph.D. admissions twice a year - in January and July sessions. Admission is through the Silicon University Admission Test (SUAT), which comprises a written examination (50% research methodology + 50% subject-specific questions) followed by a personal interview. Candidates who have qualified GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, or equivalent national/state-level exams with valid scores are exempted from the written test and directly called for the interview. The January 2026 session admissions have been completed; the next upcoming session is July 2026, for which applications are expected to open in May 2026.

Note: Candidates with valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 scores, or valid UGC-NET/CSIR-NET scores, are exempted from the SUAT written test.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must hold an M.Tech./M.E./Integrated M.Tech./MCA/MBA or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA).
• Alternatively, candidates with M.Sc./M.A./M.Com./LLM or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks are also eligible.
• Part Time candidates must be employed in an organization that provides adequate basic facilities and an environment suitable for research.

Admission Process

• Submit online application at www.silicon.ac.in during the application window.
• Upload scanned passport-size photograph and signature during application.
• Shortlisted candidates appear for SUAT (written test + interview). Candidates with valid GATE/UGC-NET/CSIR-NET scores are exempted from the written test.
• Written test consists of 50% research methodology and 50% subject-specific questions; minimum 50% marks required to qualify for interview.
• Final selection is based on SUAT rank and personal interview performance.
• Selected candidates report to the university with required documents on the notified date.

SU Ph.D EEE Scholarships 2026

Silicon University does not offer a specific institutional scholarship for Ph.D. students. Full-time Ph.D. scholars are eligible for Research Assistantship as per University norms, but Part Time students are not eligible for the same. Government fellowships from external bodies are available for eligible candidates.

Scholarships and Fellowships

• UGC JRF and CSIR JRF are available only to candidates who have qualified the respective NET exams with JRF eligibility (not just lectureship).
• Part Time Ph.D. students are generally not eligible for UGC/CSIR JRF as these fellowships require full-time research enrollment.
• Candidates are advised to check the latest fellowship amounts and eligibility criteria on the official UGC and CSIR websites.
• SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates from Odisha may apply for state government post-matric scholarships through the Odisha Scholarship Portal.
