In essence in taking the Criminology course offered by Durham University you will be able to confidently analyse complex criminological questions and present them in a highly academic and scholarly fashion.Ê
Lectures provide key information on the key conceptual tools, methodologies, research and scholarship in the subject area. They also expose students to the skills of research synthesis and note taking.
Seminars are intended as guided, small group discussions of the subject area. They rely on independent study outside the programmeÕs formal contact hours to be effective. They provide key learning scaffolding opportunities for studentsÕ development of skills of conceptualisation and contextualisation, which are key for these programmes. Students also develop public speaking skills and research synthesis abilities.
Research based workshops allow the students to gain hands-on experience of research in the subject area and to develop practical skills in the method of social research in the context of small group discussion and team working. They are also useful for developing team working skill and information gathering and analysis skills.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Completion of the Law National Aptitude Test (LNAT) is required.
- A level offer – A*AA.
- BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma/OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma – D*DD.
- IB Diploma score – 38 with 666 in higher-level subjects.
- A GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required to be eligible for the program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Applicants must have passed Standard XII with an average score of 87% (best of 4 academic subjects) with any prerequisite subjects at 85% or higher
- Subjects required: Mathematics
- Standard XII from CBSE or CISCE Boards and some State Boards only are accepted for entry, State Boards considered on a case by case basis
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
