- Sports science and physiology investigate the responses and effects of both acute and chronic exercise on the structures and functions of the body, helping to develop new research-based approaches to enhance performance and health.
- Students will gain an understanding of exercise concepts such as testing, training, fitness, endurance, and fatigue: from the molecular and cellular levels through to the pulmonary, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal systems.
- The core disciplines that the course covers are exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, and sport and exercise psychology. Students will explore how these can be applied across a range of settings to optimize sports performance, improve health and disease outcomes, and inform rehabilitation strategies.
