- My course was very practical with some taught modules since I was in a research-based program. The most positive aspect was the extensive research experience I was able to gather. Although it is difficult to point out a negative, I would say that the course prepared us better for PhD applications and not if one would like to move on to an industry-based role.
- The taught module timings range from 10 am to 5 pm. The taught classes are usually held for 2-3 hrs and the lab sessions are spread over the entire work day.
- Our class included students from two different courses: 78 total but only 26 of us were in the MRes course and the rest were in MSc. Around 25 students were from India.
Fees
- Tuition: 23000 GBP (Can be paid in whole for the year or in instalments)
- Accommodation is not included and is paid separately. I paid 450 pcm for rent and electricity. I budgeted around 100-150 for food, which includes eating out. I got the yearly bus pass for 400 GBP but they have scrapped it now so you get the 4-week pass for 67 GBP instead.
- I live quite frugally so my expenses were not too high. These expenses vary greatly depending on the student's lifestyle.

- There is nothing I dislike about the university all was according to my expectation but I would tell the mode of exam was bit challenging for my course and it could vary on courses..

- The curriculum and course structure are highly updated and aligned with current industry trends. The university is well-recognised for its strength in emerging areas like Information Retrieval (IR) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) within computer science.
- It also houses one of the largest libraries in Europe and offers excellent research facilities.

- The total tuition fee for my programme was approximately £29,000. fees vary depending on the year and specific course structure.

- Course module and delivery was very up to date, relevant and practical information. Courses were assignment focussed that help develop deep understanding of the subject matter.
- Professors are from diverse backgrounds and global experts in their respective fields. They are also very friendly and super helpful.
- State of the art labs that let you practice what you learnt theoretically.
Dislikes
- Placement services could be better
- More options for university accomodation could be made available
- Prior information on what the exact course module is about could be useful

- The course level was medium to hard; that is why the admission process is crucial. Also, it is very important to choose your course modules wisely based on your background and interests.
- The courses were very up-to-date and very concise. Students from non-STEM backgrounds might struggle to cope.
- 50 students were there in total. Students come from different educational and cultural backgrounds so you will get an opportunity to interact and collaborate with different people. Make sure you participate in as many group projects as possible. There are quite a few Asians. 5 students were Indian.
Fees
- Tuition fees for my course were £24,000 per year.
- I took a private hostel, which was £650 a month. University accommodations which were cheaper could have been better maintained. Good ones were more expensive. There are lots of options for private hostels as well.
- Average living cost was 250-300£ per month.
- There are multiple options for payment frequency. I paid it in one single instalment because i had my loan approved. They can be paid in up to 8 instalments.

- - The competitive environment amongst the students, which makes any serious student motivated to study for longer period with a clear purpose in mind.
- - The beautiful historic walls of the 573-year old university.
- - The scenic landscape of gardens spread across the campus. It's preferable to carry a camera, or a good quality phone as there would be many captivating moments to capture while strolling across the campus
Dislikes
- - There are limited University accommodation facilities which are nearby to the university, as most of the available accommodation services are way far from the campus and require a transport to travel. So, it's better to book earlier in advance.
- - The weather can be depressing at times, with sudden rains and cold breeze.
- - During the months of November to January, there may be much less exposure of sunlight, with sun setting at around 3:30-4 pm itself. Due to which, I developed depressive thoughts during the initial days of stay, and had to eventually consult advice from the wellbeing team of the university, which later helped out significantly.
Course Curriculum

- The difficulty level of my course curriculum is pretty hectic, with lots of assessments and modules during the entire academic year. While my course has both content related to theoretical and practical stuff.
- The most positive aspect regarding my course is the various career opportunities that my course provides, while the negative aspects of my course include much part of self-study and very little integration of faculty diving deep into explaining the basic coding structure.
- There are around 2-3 classes scheduled in a day, with timings varying from 9 a.m. to 5pm. While each class consists of 2 hours.
- There are around 120 students in my class.
- There are around 25-30 Indian students enrolled in my course.
Fees
- My tuition fees for the entire academic year are £31860, out of which I received a scholarship of £5000. So, my total tuition fees is £26860 for the entire year. And my hostel charges for the entire year are around £8400, while it depends majorly on the kind of room, location, and facilities.
- My fee payment type is a manual payment plan and my entire fee structure is divided into 8 installments, with each installment to be paid by the start of each month until the month of May. While there are several other methods available for paying the fees, like direct debit plans, bank transfers, and card transfers, it depends on each respective type.
- My monthly rent costs around £700, while my regular expenses cost around £250. To break down, my monthly transportation expense costs around £70, and my expenses on groceries cost around £130. The rest of the cost is mostly the other kind of expenses like clothing, entertainment, etc.

- It was more practical-orientated but not like India, you cannot expect just mugging up the material given at the university because questions are not straightforward, it assesses deeper aspects of your understanding , critical thinking, etc

Dislikes
- While the infrastructure of the university is breath taking, practically attending the classes would make us to run from one corner to another corner is very time consuming. It would be really helpful if they can work on the time table and class allotment schedule keeping this fact into consideration.
- Would appreciate if we are provided with more industrial visits.
- Since the Masters program is 1 year, I think it would be really interesting if we can choose to do a dissertation under the University or in a private institution.

The difficulty level is moderate. Course was mainly focusing on the industrial standards. We had equal number of classes and labs. Research oriented . Theoretical final exams.

Positive aspect is the curriculum designed to balance research and industrial applications with challenging courseworks for every subject studied.

Negative aspect is that the Sem 3 was only focused with dissertation which would leave a lot to be distracted. Since there would be any classes, it’s the most isolated Sem with no much interaction with any classmates.

- Focused on real-time application-based education. All the given assessments must not be copied from any source. A student should use their knowledge about the concept and accordingly work on them. All the assessments helps to understand a student about how the things work in industry.
- Strict action against plagiarism: The university takes plagiarism cases very seriously. This leaves no option for a student to copy other's assignments.
- Help to build teamwork: There are many projects, case studies, and research-based projects that need to be done in groups of students. This helps a student work in a team. In this model, all the students should take part in the project work. Otherwise, they will not receive high scores in delta scoring from other students.
Dislikes
- Less idea about the curriculum: It takes time to understand the whole curriculum and exam patterns. Professor should be more focused to make every students understand about the curriculum.
- Sometimes course becomes more hectic with multiple assignments of the different subjects with the same time of submission. Since, each of the course work takes good amount of time. It becomes hectic during the deadline.
- Since, University conducts less classes for each subjects. Because of that professor doesn't go deep into the topic instead they just teach the topic on high level.

- Difficulty level is moderate to difficult. The course is more focused on practical knowledge with a little bit of theoretical.
- The MSc in Data Science at the University of Glasgow covers all the topics of data science with practical hands-on. The course is well-structured and well-planned by the university. Sometimes, a course becomes hectic because of assignment due dates and examinations.
- On average, 3 classes, from 11 am to 4pm.
- There are around 300 students in the course, divided into 3 batches of 100 each.
- Approximately 60% of the students (~200 students) are Indian, 30% are Chinese and the rest are from other parts of the world.
Fees
- Overall tuition fee is £31860. I have not opted for hostel facilities, so hostel charges and other charges are not included.
- Fees charged on a yearly basis. Those fees can be paid in 8 to 10 different instalments.
- Rent: 500 pounds every month
- Utility Bills: 40 pounds approximately every month
- Groceries: 35 pounds approximately every month
- Transportation: 0 pounds as I live 5 minutes walk to the University
- Food and Clothes: 50 pounds approximately every month

Likes
- The campus is very beautiful. You get the best experience here.
- It has the biggest library space of 14 floors and various study spaces on campus are open till late at night.
- The Uni organises events for every other occasion and there are various societies you can get involved with. This boosts your self confidence, you communicate with various people from diverse backgrounds.
Dislikes
- There are a lot of things happening at once. pretty hard to concentrate on one thing.
- The course length is 1 year which gives you very less time to settle in and look forward for your course.
- The course fees is a bit expensive compared to other colleges in UK but at the same time it has nice Overall ranking.

I would say prepare well before coming here. The level of study is between Moderate to High. It's a mix of both as I need to apply my programming skills to practical.

Positive aspects, it will introduce you to this world of programming and the coursework is pretty thourough but you have to catch up on everything in a year which is pretty much ocean to cover in one year.

The fees for my course is £31860. I got a scholarship for £5k for India Merit Award. The accommodation that i chose is separate from the Uni fees and it is £6k . These are based on the type of accommodation you choose.

So , you have options of paying it in one go or in 8 installments plan. I am paying it in 8 installments monthly plan. Dates are set by the university on portal.

If you exclude the accommodation fees , then i spend around 150-200 on my groceries and rest 150£ on other expenses. It basically depends on your lifestyle.

- In my opinion, the university being a russel group university helps a lot when looking for jobs so that was a plus for me.
- Then the curriculum of Data Science Course was very vast and well thought out.
- University of Glasgow has a very good reputation in the field of research which I experienced during my time here, as it showed in professor's teachings.
Dislikes
- Surviving in an abroad country is difficult and that too along with studies is difficult. This is something you have to manage on your own, there will be no support from the university in this regard.
- The teaching style is very different from India, as here nothing is taught in sense of teacher explaining things, you have doubts you can ask them but you have to explore things yourself.
- Teaching here is basically just reading out presentation slides, main focus should be on the doubt sessions where you will get your doubts cleared.

- The course curriculum is very challenging but at the same time rewarding.
- It was all concept based learning which is something I appreciate. The way of teaching could be improved.

- Hostel Fees - GBP 160/week for 52 weeks (Private Student Accomodation)
- The fees is charged yearly or it can be paid in two installments.
- Monthly expenses - GBP 200/month including food, transportation and all the other regular expenses like going out once in a while or any stationary you need to buy(excluding rent as rent is mentioned above)
