Academic Qualification

• A-Level (GCE): AAA, including Chemistry or Biology and another science (Mathematics is acceptable).
• IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma: 37 points overall, including 6, 6, 6 at Higher Level with Chemistry or Biology and another science.
  • Three subjects at Standard Level with an average of grade 6.
  • Biology or Chemistry (if not taken at Higher Level) must be at least Standard Level 6.
• CBSE/ISC/XII Standard: 85% overall and 85% in three relevant subjects, including Chemistry or Biology and another science
• Graduate Entry: Minimum 2:1 Honours degree in a relevant life science subject (first degree).
  • Further or higher degrees must meet minimum 2:1 in the first degree.
  • Study within the last 3 years prior to entry is required.
  • Acceptable academic study includes undergraduate, master’s, PhD, or SCQF Level 6 (minimum 24 credits).
  • Open University 30-credit module is acceptable.
• Prior Academic Qualifications: All prior academic qualifications are considered.
• SQA Higher:
  • Standard: AAABB.
  • Widening Access: AABBB.
  • Essential subjects: Chemistry/Biology and another science.
  • If not studied at Higher, Biology/Chemistry (A) and Math/English (B) at National 5 required.
  • Highers must be taken in one sitting
• SQA Advanced Higher: 
  • Standard: BBB in 6th year.
  • Widening Access: BB in 6th year
• SWAP (Scottish Wider Access Programme):
  • AAA with 80% in key subjects.
  • Subjects Level 6: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Communications and Literature.
  • Subjects Level 7: Cell Biology, DNA and Genetics, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry.

  • Subjects Level 8 Human Body: Structure and Function, Preparation for Higher Education (HE).

• UCAT Requirement: All applicants must sit the UCAT test in the year of application (unless exempt due to no testing center).
• Minimum UCAT Score: No minimum cut-off score required.

NOTE: 

• AAA: Highest grades in 3 subjects.
• BBB: Moderate grades in 3 subjects.
• SQA: Governing body for Scottish qualifications (Higher and Advanced Higher).
• Higher: Equivalent to A-Level, taken in Grade 11.
• Advanced Higher: Higher-level courses taken in Grade 12.
• Widening Access: Lower grade requirements for underprivileged students.

• Interview Format: Face-to-face: Multi-station interview (6 mins per station + 1 min reading time, 30 sec rotation).
• Remote: Panel interview covering all stations.
• Number of Scenarios: 5 scenarios assessed during the interview.
• Assessment Criteria: Communication skills, teamwork, personal values, critical thinking, and flexibility.
• Confidentiality: Applicants should not discuss interview topics with others.
• Venue for In-person Interviews: Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
• Platform for Remote Interviews: Blackboard Collaborate (link provided in confirmation email).
• Photo ID for Verification: Photocard driving licence, passport, national ID card, or Young Scot card.
• Dress Code: Smart attire; school uniform is acceptable.
• Duration of Interview: Approximately 90 minutes.
• Interview Timings:
  • In-person: Held in December.
  • Online: Held in January.

Pre-Sessional English courses.

• Recieve Conditional offer from the University then, take pre-sessional English courses to fulfill the entry requirements.

English Language Requirement

• IELTS Academic: Overall 7.0, with Minimum of 7.0 in each skill.
• Pearson PTE Academic UKVI: Overall 76, with Minimum: 76 in each skill.
• TOEFL iBT: Overall 95, Writing 24, Listening 22, Reading 24, Speaking 25.
• LanguageCert Academic: Minimum grade 75 in English.
• LanguageCert ESOL for UKVI: Overall B2 minimum: 36 , minimum: 36 in Writing, 33 in (Listening, Reading, Speaking).
• Trinity ISE: ISE II Merit in each skill.
