University of Cambridge Physics Programs

The Department of Physics, or the Cavendish Laboratory as it is widely known, has a long history of world-leading research and teaching. The Cavendish is home to approximately 430 graduate students and admits students to six different programs although the majority are studying for a PhD in one of the 15 research groups. All students also undertake a substantial research project. 
By the end of these post-grad programs, students will have demonstrated:

• a comprehensive understanding of techniques, and a thorough knowledge of the literature, applicable to their own research;
• demonstrated originality in the application of knowledge, together with a practical understanding of how research and enquiry are used to create and interpret knowledge in their field;
• shown abilities in the critical evaluation of current research and research techniques and methodologies;
