In your first and second years at BSc Psychology (Hons) at Cardiff Metropolitan University, you will be given an introduction to the areas of Social and Developmental Psychology, as well as research methods and data analysis. In the third year you have the opportunity to specialise in the area of psychology that interests you. Specialist areas can include Clinical Psychology, Occupational Psychology, Health Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Social Psychology, Exercise Psychology and more.Ê

You will have the opportunity to undertake work placements and volunteering in a wide range of settings to maximize your practical experience. Past placements have included working with vulnerable young adults at Safer Wales; working with children in secondary schools in a mentoring capacity; in forensic, clinical and health settings, shadowing professionals in areas such as the probation service and hospitals.Ê

Employability & Careers:

Career opportunities exist for graduates where knowledge of people and how they communicate is valued. The course is an ideal foundation for further study in postgraduate psychology courses leading to a qualification as an occupational, educational, clinical, and forensic or health psychologist, and also leads to other postgraduate courses such as PGCE. Graduates will also be able to enter careers in personnel management, advertising, health promotion and many areas of industry.
