Cranfield University Student Journey

I applied to the following universities: Manchester(almost got done, but did not go ahead) Glasgow(did not like the program), Cranfield (accepted and admitted) - wanted to be part of a university that only has PG programmes Edinburgh (got rejected) - really a very competitive program Cradiff (declined the offer) - a good university, but had UG as well Warwick (did not want to give the Warwick test) Factors why I chose Cranfield A PG and above only crowd Need sa ecluded campus to focus on studies Wanted to learn how to use expertise from different courses Admission Process Application Interview (This depended on different applications) Eligibility Criteria GMAT (650+) IELTS (7 for MBA) Overall Process An extremely smooth process with proper support from the Cranfield Team I got in for the September Intake Wanted to get done with my MBA in a year, hence applied for the September Intake. I’ve applied to and gotten rejections from ISAE Supaero and PoliMi. I’ve been waitlisted by KTH Royal Sweden and got admission to Cranfield. None of the universities mentioned the reason for rejection, but I think it might be because of my not very great CGPA. Even if I had many other things to make up for it, that might have been a limiting factor. I chose this university because Cranfield is popularly known for its work and history in the aeronautical, automotive, and motorsport industries. It has extremely strong ties with industrial partnerships and was one of the only universities, along with Imperial, offering an exclusive specialised MSc in CFD instead of a generic MSc in Aerospace. I was also really impressed and drawn to the professors and the work they’ve done here. The admission process is pretty straightforward; apply through the university site. Initially, send out your application (transcripts, IELTS, cover letter, etc). IELTS is mandatory (minimum 6.5 overall and a 5.5 in all skill components). The overall admission process is simple and easy to do, but I’d suggest starting your applications earlier to account for visa and other delays that may occur. I applied to the September intake. Factors I considered were the University ranking, professors, their research interests, and experience. The admission process didn’t take very long. I applied at the end of March, had my admission in April, did my visa in August, and flew here to register and start my course in September. Applied for 2 Universities - Cranfield University and Swansea University. Both accepted my application, and I was shortlisted for both. Received admission from both universities but chose Cranfield for a vast number of reasons. No colleges that I applied to have sent me a rejection A lot could depend on the requirements of the university and of the student as well. Cranfield is a complete postgraduate university, meaning fresh minds every year and acceptance of new talent are regular. Apart from this, the university also offers a research facility and is located in a calm and green environment. The admission process: Application Confirmation of admission with Deposit (upon acceptance from university) Confirmation of CAS Letter IHS and Visa Application Uploading documents in the Shield portal (useful for submitting all docs, visa status and proof of funds) Arrival in the country Received by the university (transport provided upon request through portal) Intake applied for and factors influenced: September 2023; most particularly, my planning of the course and personal reasons influenced my decision The process took me about 6 months (from April to September). I applied to the following universities: Warwick Business School - rejected. My grades did not make the cut, and my profile was not competitive enough Manchester University - accepted. Did not choose it due to basic curriculum and poor peer reviews Cranfield University - accepted. Chose it due to its unique curriculum Lancaster University - accepted. Did not choose due to its location. Very far from London. I chose Cranfield due to its unique curriculum and its proximity to London, where all the job opportunities are. Application form online, IELTS score (min 6.5), SOP, job references, and min 2:1 in your first degree (any degree is fine). And then you await your response. No need for GMAT/GRE. IELTS minimum is 6.5 Overall experience was very smooth. I got a response within 1 week of application. This university gets back with a decision much sooner than other universities. 2022. I applied a year later after Covid settled down. I applied in the September intake, as this course ends in the better season to get jobs. Admission process was only about 10-15 days, as Cranfield responds quickly. But preparing for documentation and SOPs took about 2 months. I applied to a total of 3 Universities, namely the University of Bath, the University of Leeds and Loughborough University. I had offer letters from all three Universities. During this process I had not received any rejections from any of my applications. I had applied for a master's in Automotive Engineering in all of the Colleges that I have mentioned previously. I chose them because I found their course structure to be more suited for my way of learning and they had better connections with Industry, and along with that, the modules they had were better suited for my personal development goals. The admission process involved the application itself followed by a technical interview, and the process was very smooth and handled well by the faculty. The exam needed was TOEFL/IELTS. I applied for the September intake, as that was the only one available for the course. The admission process took 3 months from date of application to the interview to the final offer letter arriving. The process is done very thoroughly and if the interview is very successful, they will give you positive feedback on the spot, but the final letter will arrive only once the entire process is done....Read More

I chose UK because I didn’t want to learn another language. But I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it because there is a horrible shortage of work at the moment. I chose Cranfield because of the modules and because it was well-ranked. It’s a pretty serious and academic university so if anyone is looking for a social uni, Cranfield isn’t the one for you....Read More
