Leeds Beckett University is Excellent

I had many colleges in my mind, but I chose to apply only to Leeds Beckett University. I spent a lot of time researching, and everything, from the course to student feedback, just felt right. I trusted my instinct and went ahead with it. Everyone has different choices and requirements, and I liked this college because it was just right according to my requirements. My advice to all of you is that whichever college you are thinking of applying to, first check the details about that college. Do research and then make a final decision. Do not make any decisions in haste because it is a very big decision for your career. The two colleges that I liked are Cardiff University University of Nottingham. To be fair, it wasn’t just one thing—more like a combo. Leeds felt like a good pick. Not as crazy expensive as London, which honestly matters a lot when you’re on a student budget. Plus, I’d heard from a few friends and folks online that the student vibe is solid—busy, active, and easy to settle in. What really helped, though? The university was quick to respond and very supportive during the whole process, Quick replies, clear updates. It just made me feel like, okay, yeah... they actually care. That gave me a bit more confidence to just go for it. So yeah, the process wasn’t too bad. I did everything online—filled out the form, uploaded my transcripts, IELTS score, six months’ bank statements, and my SOP. After a couple of weeks, I got a conditional offer. Sent the remaining docs, made the deposit, and then got my CAS letter for the visa. What I really appreciated was that their communication was pretty clear throughout. No major confusion, which honestly helped a lot—made things less stressful. For admission into my course, they looked for about 55 to 60% in your bachelor's degree. IELTS was also needed—I had to score at least 6.0 overall, and no section could be below 5.5 in any section. Besides that, I submitted a Statement of Purpose and one or two academic references. Nothing too complicated, but yeah, you had to make sure everything was in place. It was better than I thought it’d be. I mean, applying to a university abroad sounds overwhelming, right? But Leeds Beckett made it feel manageable. Their team replied quickly whenever I had doubts, which helped a lot. The only annoying part? Just getting all the documents together. That took a bit longer. But once that was sorted and uploaded, everything else kind of moved fast. I applied for the January intake—mainly because I needed a bit more time to pull everything together. Between getting my documents ready and taking the IELTS, January just made more sense for me. Plus, it was a little calmer than the September rush, which gave me space to settle in properly. The whole admission process took close to two months, start to finish. I don’t remember the exact dates but here’s roughly how it went: Around early October, I filled out the online form and submitted stuff like my transcripts, SOP, IELTS score, and all that. By mid-October, I got a conditional offer. At the end of the month, I uploaded whatever was pending and paid the deposit. A few days into November, I got my unconditional offer. I applied to the University of East Anglia, the University of Cumbria and Leeds Beckett University. I was shortlisted in all 3 of them. I received confirmed admission from all 3. I wasn’t rejected by any of the universities I applied to, but one common cause of rejection amongst international students is their IELTS score or educational or professional gap. I chose Leeds Beckett University because it offers a hands-on, industry-relevant curriculum in MBA, which really appealed to me. The balance between theory and practical application, especially through work placements and real-world projects, set it apart from other universities I considered. Leeds Beckett’s strong industry links and career support services made me confident that I would be well-prepared for life after graduation. I applied for the fall intake, as it’s the main intake. The admission process at Leeds Beckett University (LBU) typically takes around 6 weeks from the submission of your application to receiving an offer, provided all required documents are complete and there are no additional requirements. Loughborough University- Rejected. This was my first choice as Loughborough has one of the best programmes for sport study. They also have great sports teams and do well in competitions. However, unfortunately I did not get accepted. They get loads of students applying every year so the cut off must have been quite high. University of East London- Accepted, Leeds Beckett University- Accepted, St Mary's University- Accepted, Westminster University- Accepted, Nottingham Trent University- Accepted. Leeds was my second choice which also has similar sport programmes to Loughborough and also has good sports teams. They also had the exact course that I was looking for i.e sport business management. I also enjoyed partaking in the football team during my time here. As mentioned earlier Leeds Beckett is one of the best colleges for people interested in pursuing sports as a career. They are heavily focused on sports and provide in depth knowledge of the industry. I had applied to Leeds Beckett through UCAS . The UCAS process is long but pretty straightforward and self-explanatory. In terms of the admission criteria, you had to get an average grade of 75% or more to be accepted along with 75% or more in any financial subjects i.e accounts, business studies, economics. Other than academics you also need an IELTS score of 7+ to get in. The overall admission process was smooth and not too problematic. Applied for the September 2022 intake as it suited my timeline. After finishing my boards in May I was able to start my further education in a few months in mid September. The admission process, as mentioned multiple times now, was through UCAS. Started the UCAS process in January, then started to hear from the universities around April/May. Then I had to choose an option by May, once done you also had to submit your board's results as the offer given by your choice of university is only conditional. I applied to various universities in Canada and the UK, within Canada I applied to the McMaster University where I did get shortlisted and interviewed but the professor did not have enough funding to my project further under his lab, so I had to reject the offer. I applied to the Manchester Metropolitan in the UK, from which I got rejected since I did not 2 years of work experience.  I applied to the University of Liverpool, Loughborough, University of Portsmouth, University of Leeds, and Leeds Beckett University, University of Central Lancashire.. I accepted Leeds Beckett because of its reputation and fairly affordable tuition fees, along with syllabus/modules compared to other options. I chose Leeds Beckett over others because, 1. Reputed Institution with great infrastructure and better ranking within the UK. 2. Leeds being an amazing multi-cultural city and with an affordable Cost of Living. 3. Syllabus/modules over much better when compared to other institutions. Admission process; IELTS (Min. 6.5 each), References, Work Experience, Statement of Purpose.. all should be related to the course that you have chosen to, sometimes they do waive off interview for exemplary applications.. I did not have to give one fortunately. Overall, the admission process was fairly easy but the most frustrating bit was the issuance of the CAS letter, which is an important document for you to file your visa application.. that took almost over a month for me to come.. and most students had to wait for more than 45 days. I applied for the September intake, I wanted to establish an year long work experience back in India which made me choose the September intake especially, because my course also did not have January intake in most Universities. Overall experience was great. I really recommend everyone to at least get one experience studying abroad as it will be a lifetime experience as well. You will learn so much about life in general, as you will be working with people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds you will be learning so much about those different cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well. Because of its reputation in the local area, it's renowned as a business school and since this is what I wanted to do it was perfect. Also, it wasn't too far away from home to deter from attending as many other universities did as they were too far away....Read More
