Be careful before deciding to do a PhD

I applied for the following universities: University of Warwick: Confirmed admission University of Manchester: Admitted University of Glasgow: Rejected Oxford University: Rejected Cambridge: Rejected ETH Zurich: Rejected I cannot comment as to why I wasn't accepted in some of them. There are a LOT of factors that go into such decisions, everything from your current skills to the economic health of the country. Warwick is one of the best in the world when it comes to mathematics. So I had to go for it. One has to fill out the application form. Be ready with all your details, any references and a statement of purpose. You submit the application, after which you'll be informed if you have been admitted (approx. 3 months for me). Once you are admitted, you accept the offer, after which you'll be issued a unique CAS number for your visa application. You have to be ready for your visa application as well. IELTS and TOEFL are accepted. I took IELTS; basically, you have to score more than 7.0 in each of Listening, Reading, Writing , Speaking. It's lengthy and you have to be on your toes, especially regarding the visa; apply for the visa ASAP. Do not delay that part of the process. Warwick has a rolling admissions procedure so no intake per se. I applied 1st December 2020 and got the offer 12th February 2021. After this you have to confirm your offer within two weeks or so, though this may vary depending on your course. I applied to the following universities: University of Warwick-—Confirmed Admission University of Bath-—Confirmed Admission University of Exeter-—Confirmed Admission University of Durham-—Confirmed Admission London School of Economics- Rejected-—Due to low predicted scores, criteria around 98 cent Received offers from 4 out of 5 and met the criteria for all 4 after the board exam results and chose Warwick. Warwick Business School was very prestigious for my field and around number 2 in the U.K Location was also favorable, with Leamington Spa and Coventry being 20 minutes by bus and London being 1 hour 30 minutes. Warwick was also the highest-ranked university. Admission process - Applied through UCAS (September) - Waited for conditional offer (arrived by January) - After boards got unconditional after sending marksheet- Accepted offer - Requested for CAS (which is needed to apply for visa) - Received CAS by July The IELTS exam is mandatory for English qualification—a Minimum score of 6 overall. Overall, a very simple admission experience but keep a close track of emails, as that is the only form of communication. I applied for the September intake. Admission process started in August of 2023 and I got my confirmed admission by May 2024. UCAS applications by August and then waiting for conditional and unconditional offers. England was one of the countries that offered masters directly after bachelors, and the reason for choosing the university was that the ranking was in the top 5 in England . MSc Marketing and Strategy is a course that has been something that I have been wanting to study as a specialisation for a long time. The modules have been designed to give proper practical and theoretical knowledge about real-life scenarios, and when I talked to previous students, they gave me a good insight on how the teaching will happen throughout the year. The career coaches have helped guide formatting the CV, cover Letters and what sort of platforms to look at for job applications. In the second month of coming here, I secured an internship (remote) with a London-based jewellery designer and have been working with her since. The university also has a lot of clubs and societies to join and gain exposure to networking opportunities . The Warwick Business School hosts a lot of career and networking events with industry professionals, along with mock assessment centres that are really helpful in getting to know the application process . I applied to 5 UK universities for the same course. The 5 universities are: Warwick, Bath, Birmingham, Queen Mary, LSE (BSc Accounting and Finance in all the 5 unis) I got accepted into universities all except LSE.  It was possibly because they didn’t find my personal statement that strong, I did meet all the academic criteria but it was probably the personal statement  Warwick's reputation is quite good worldwide, it was number 1 for my course BSc Accounting and Finance in the entire UK. Plus, the massive campus really attracted me. The diverse set of students, faculty and breadth of opportunities like more than 250 student societies and clubs for students to join, participate in sustainability challenges, a global network in London etc all influenced my decision. Application process: It was a 4000 characters personal statement, 2 Letters of reference from school, class X actual grades and class XII predicted grades in the initial application. Then I got a conditional offer giving me a couple of conditions like 90% overall in class XII and 90% in maths class XII exam. Once I got my actual grades and submitted it to Warwick, I got an unconditional offer. There's no entrance exam required for my course, however, one needs minimum 90-92% overall in class XII and around 90-90% in Maths exam. The requirements change every year so it's better to check the website for that. Overall experience was really positive, Warwick took 4 months to give me an offer while other unis took 2 months so I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get in but the time they take to reply to you doesn't indicate any decision.  September 2021 intake, Warwick's reputation is quite good worldwide, it was number 1 for my course BSc Accounting and Finance in the entire UK.
